Question Painting Brake Calipers Good or Bad???

I was talking to the guy that lowered my car about painting my brake calipers and he said that he would not do it on a mercedes because the brakes are anodized and they would get to hot? is this true becuase i think it would look great to have red calipers on my lowered black coupe with the c7 wheels i just dont want to do it if it will affect my braking will it????

Painting your calipers has no effect whatsoever on the brakes.
The only purpose for the calipers is to hold the pads. Heat is dissapated via the surface area of the rotor. The guy that lowered your car is smoking something funny.

C230K yes I must admit it looks great especially with the car being that gorgeous red. I guess the Orion blue club will most likely paint their calipers blue.

Where did you get your paint? How much did it cost? I painted my calipers and now its chipping. It's been almost 1 year and I used caliper paint offered at Stillen.

Evosports.com sells a two part caliper paint. Think it's about $42.

Lynn, thanks for the complement, Orion is to common (just kidding) and thanks for the Web page, that's the paint I bought, just could not remember the company's web page. Think it will last a long time, just clean when you do the wheels. The people at my MB dealership love the look with the C7 wheels. Magma red just looks great on the Coupe..

i think silver or black would look pretty good on an orion blue! lynn, you're going to do it? wanna see pics - before/after.

that site's got interior plastic paint, engine cover paint also. are you going to paint the engine cover?

red bull!

actually, i've never considered painting the brake calipers (although i've seen them of course) nor the engine cover... but if i can think of something cool, i'm painting the engine cover!

You can get it directly from G2 for $43 or save a few cents and get it here for $36.

C230k, there was a red, ash cloth C7 coupe at the dealer last Friday that had just been sold, and was to be delivered this week. It was gorgeous. Red would have been my second choice, but I've owned a red car and had never had a blue one.

young, I'll get around to painting the calibers, but not soon. As for the engine cover maybe Kleemann pink when I get the pulley.:p

G2 is not KLEEMANN. KLEEMANN employs the services of G2 for marketing and promotion. The two companies are not one in the same.

With that said the G2 calpier paint is outstanding. We use it on our KLEEMANN demo vehicles all the time. High gloss, very durable and a simple job for the do it your selfer.

Kleemann - I'm curious. Is there some history behind why you guys chose the godawful Pepto-Bismol color to represent the company?

I guess you'll never be confused with any other company, but I still couldn't imagine wanting that color on my car. Not dissing your company, mind you; simply curious about the color. Thanks.

KLEEMANN Japan had originally picked that color for highlights. Tastes are a bit different over there. KLEEMANN DK and USA has changed the color to Silver Grey with Black Logo type. You are right, however, the color is memorable- just not in a positive way with some people.

I painted mine with the same G2 kit from Serious Auto. The paint can comes only half-filled. At first I was worried it was not enough. Then I realized (when done) I had enough left over to paint an entire other car! The kit rocks and the results are impressive.

See, if you got it from G2 directly the can would have been half empty instead of half full.

Now on to more serious stuff, I have a Black coupe, chromed 16" wheels, what would look better yellow or red calipers? I don't know why people would paint it silver, it's already silver unless you have factory brake pads then it's charcoal black.
