what kind of rims, and what tire size? That will help determine how low he can go.

To answer one of your questions, you don't cut springs (I'm assuming that's what you mean by "coils", and not cutting coil-overs or bumpstops). They're designed to a certain length for a reason. If you cut them, you totally ruin them, and screw up the dynamics of the suspension.

If he doesn't want to spend alot of money, he's in a pickle as well, since you should change the shocks when you change the springs (in a perfect world). But to answer this directly, I think that H&R's will give your son the lowest drop; Eibach's drop is less. Evolution sells the H&R's, not sure about Eibach's. I think that Brabus and Renntech's parts are just rebadged versions of stock springs from other companies, so if you buy theirs, you're buying their overhead.

I recommend H&R springs. Thats what I got. I was very annoyed at the ride height in the front. Since the springs are made for a 240/320 the front was very high compared to the back. I figured the 320 has more weight because of the bigger engine in the front. So, I cut the springs 1 coil in the front. IMO, my ride is fine. But then again thats just me and i have always driven a lowered car.

i had h&r springs installed on my c coupe and it lowered the front alot but dident do a thing on the back it looks just how it came. i guess i am going to need new spring pads to lower it more. i just wish i would have know that before i had the spring installed and the car alligned.

C320
You can get a pretty good price for the H&R Cup Kit for the C320 from Autoclass.net. They are selling them for 589. I think thats a pretty good buy. I got mine for 610(including tax) from a guy here in southern cali.
You should really consider changing the shocks if you really want to go low.

check out autoclass's website,

calvin

oww dang....

you don't want to cut your spring. I had too many friends who's trying to be ghetto by cutting their springs, and they ended up hating it.
When you cut the spring, your spring will be harder than it was, so if you cut too much, your car will be bouncing like crazy.

If I were you, I'll find some suspension setup which will give me the lowest drop or maybe get a coilover (if they have it for benz)

That's just my $0.02
