Info: CCM Navigator Speakerphone

Just want to provide some info on this little useful thing. It acts as a phone holder, charger and speakerphone. It has an extension arm that lets you position it in a way that it doesn't block access to any controls. Have worked great in my Volvo S70 and now in the Coupe. Available for Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, and some other brands I can't recall right now.

My Ericsson T28W automatically switches to the "In-Car" mode once put in the craddle. In this mode the display stays lit all the time and the phone atomatically picks up the call after 2 rings, even with the flap closed. After the calling party has hung up, it automatically hangs up, too.

At ~$30 on eBay, it's a good inexpensive alternative to the MB phone option.

Thanks for the great idea! I've checked it out on e-bay, but have a couple of questions about it, if you don't mind clarifying:

Did you have to download any software/firmware/whatever into the phone to make it compatible?
Does it work well without the wired external microphone, or is that necessary?
How do you initiate a call - Do you have to open the phone flap to turn on the phone, so that you can then dial by voice recognition?
Did the extension arm come with yours?

woefully off topic:

how do you like your t28??? i hear the most mixed reviews of that phone. some would die for it, some would die to get rid of it.

personally i think its kinda ugly, but i am not a big fan of any of ericcsons little stubby phones.

1. no changes to the phone firmware are necessary;
2. it works well enough w/o an external mic, but the CCM Navigator came in with a tiny external lavaliere microphone that can be plugged into the unit and clipped to your shirt, if you need super clean sound.
3. yes, you have to open the flap to initiate a call.
4. yes, mine came with the extension arm.

I like mine a lot. It is super light; its battery lasts long enough to not be a nuisance; its sound quality is very good; it works in Europe as well as in the US, and it only cost me $50. Of course, I would pick the T68 over it any day, but those beasts run $600+ last time I checked...
