Center speaker?

Center speaker?
There's a speaker grill in the center of the dash but I don't hear anything from it. Is there a center speaker? BTW, mine is a 04.5 C230 sedan.
I'm planning to upgrade the stereo (non-bose). Any tips? Can the stock changer be reused? I think the stock stereo's bass is pretty weak. Will a subwoofer added to the stock produce satisfactory results?

I was under the assumption that the center speaker grill was a "fill" speaker, but have also heard it is a vent. I've got BOSE by the way and also want to add a sub for some much needed bass, but don't want to lose any trunk space.

as for stereo upgrades. if you want more bass and want to maintain the oem look and the steering wheel controls, go for Audio 10 or COMAND. MBenzNL (Steve) on this board can sell you one and install it for you. www.mbenznl.com

It is a speaker if you get the Bose system. It is the Center Fill Channel for Bose. It is no longer a vent and has not been one since the 2002 models. They eliminated the vent feature.

Yup, sure do....manufacture date is July '02 for a 2003 C240. I hate how they do that crap. They also did not change package designations and I got C4 (Bixenon and washers) but it arrived with early '03 C4 which is washers and heated seats. My dealer is great and made it right by giving me money to purchase Bixenons and agreeing to activate for free. Have not done it yet but hope to after first of year.
