Use the correct fuel to avoid problems
Make sure you are using the best fuel for your Benz. A lot of fuels today contain a % of ethanol [alcohol], this is detrimental in the long term to your cars fuel lines, pumps etc leading to hoses breaking down, corrosion, fuel smells / leaks etc
Personally, I only use BP ULTIMATE [98-100% OCTANE RATING] , NO ETHANOL...

My car is certified to run E85 so the fuel system can handle Ethanol. The 10% alcohol is forced on us in California. The green lobby likes that we are burning the food as motor fuel.
BP is called ARCO in California and contains 10% alcohol and has a maximum 91 octane for the premium grade.
100 octane is almost impossible to make and stay within the emission requirements.

I'm in CA, am using Chevron exclusively on the C230. My wife prefers 76. As I understand any premium grade gas is good for the car, but try to stick with the same brand so you don't keep mixing detergents.
As far as I know, 91 octane is the max in the US. I thought higher octanes weren't necessarily good for the engine that's not made for it ... so you are supposed to stick with your engine rating.
I also thought Arco was aftermarket gas around here, something to stay away from.

I will have to check my local BP. I thought all gas sold in the US has 10% Ethanol. The labels on the pump use to say "May contain" because it was only added I think in the winter months? But now they all say "Contains" 10% ethanol.
I usually use Sunoco, Exxon, or BP.

As long as you use the correct octane fuel specified for your engine from one of these vendors, you'll be alright http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html
