Autoweek never even reviewed a C-class, at least it can't be found in their archives.

I have to admit that the cloth interior in most color combination does not appeal to me, hence I have leather

But tractor motor! That's too much... She is not entitled to bash our engine, unless she owns one

Because for every person who buys an entry-level C-Class—who puts up with Korean-looking interior cloth and roller shade-like sunroofs—there’s a longtime Mercedes loyalist who understands the E is what Mercedes does best.

I though the sunroofs were glass?

at least the damn loyalists know we are scum.

well, i didn't take too much offense at the article which mainly extols the virtues of the new E. a couple of cheap shots on the c...

about the roller shades, the new e, sl, etc. that have the all glass moonroof - i assumed a similar shading mechanism. i mean, what else could it be?

Autoweek DID review the C-Class Sedan (6/12/00) and Coupe (3/5/01) and C32 (5/14/01), at separate times, (in the printed magazine, at least).

As for the tractor motor, come-on folks. There's a thread on the current page on this very topic https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...hlight=startup and there have been several similar threads in the past on this forum. She probably got the idea for the terminology by reading it here!

I'm sure the cloth shades will be made of silk, and the cogs in the shade motor will be 24K gold!!

I did enjoy the article. I must admit that I do like the look of the new E over the old one. I think that the instrumant cluster looks really nice in comparison to the C. I wonder what the AMG version will be? E50?

I just realized that when I clicked on the "2003 E-Class Photo Gallery", for every picture that came up, I also got an ad for BMW!! Think this is intentional??

At least the tach is on the right of the speedometer, but it is still too small. The analog clock to the left of the speedo is a complete waste of space. It should be replaced by water temp and oil pressure gauges.

I think the AMG version is to be a supercharged E55.

I saw a quick blurb in C&D about the new E-Class. It sounded like the all glass roof will only be available in Europe, although I may have misunderstood the statement. I have to say though, the picture showed the all glass roof, and the adjacent roof panels were all black (on a non-black car). I'm not sure I liked that look. Seems like maybe the metal parts should still be body colored. Not sure until I actually see one.

you almost got me with that one...

Dad is an attorney (corporate, mostly construction contract litigation) age 48

stay-at-home mom until we were all in junior-high, then she went back to law school... now she's a contracts attorney too. age 47

best car I got was 10-grand worth of Integra for my HS graduation in '97 (drove a beater accord before that)

the first new car my 'rents ever owned was a 1998 Cherokee (NOT-Grand)

Second new car they ever bought was a 1998 Dodge Ram with all the fixins (dad's dream)

first "premium" car they owned is mom's current '02 ML320.

I'm gravy-training off my wife for 7 more weeks until graduation. she pays for my bimmer.

I never had a nanny, but strangely enough... that is what my wife does for a living, so I guess you can say that I've "had" a nanny

My parents went to Boca once, for a soccer coaches school.

and yes, I go fishing with my dad (and 2 brothers) quite often (less-often now, we sold the (very small 5.5hp) boat and usually go hunting instead)

ok, i think I defended myself a little... oh good lord, who's kidding, I'm WAAAAYYYYY out-numbered here! oh well, its still fun.

WOW! for the first time in history, someone has stood up for me over here... *sniff* such a happy moment...

THANKS GREG!! they really don't bug me that bad, as you said before, the nut cases at clubRSX.com are WAY worse... although, I do admit that I actually value the opinion of the members here at MBWorld... those rsx-ers are just a freaking laugh a minute... myopia at its finest.

I'll confess to the BMW ***** part..., and I have been here for about a year (counting the "old forum" and i like to think of myself as the "MBWorld voice of reason... saving unsuspecting drivers from "o-matic/o-tronic" hell! (thats a joke and pithy attempt at humor at the expense of MB marketing and their mindless naming convensions... )

BUT... I'm only letting that "troll" thing slide 'cause none of you have ever seen me in person... I aint exactly tall.

You're an integral part of this board and you'd be dearly missed, das. Nothing like a little friendly bantering to loosen up in between all that tough tech talk.

Thumbs down

"Because for every person who buys an entry-level C-Class—who puts up with Korean-looking interior cloth and roller shade-like sunroofs—there’s a longtime Mercedes loyalist who understands the E is what Mercedes does best."

Hmm. What is Korean-looking interior? Do Koreans have tacky interior? Go look at the XG300 from Hyundai. It only comes with leather. I am offended that someone would actually print this in a magazine. I am Korean and I dont know what her problem is. If she (the author) doesnt like Koreans then she should keep it to herself.

I was a farmer and I find this offensive.

Sorry Brabus couldn't resist, but I did find the Korean comment offensive.

I did read the article. I was teasing Brabus by saying that I found tractor engine sounds offensive being a farmer.

Like finding the term korean seats offensive.

I wasn't finding what you typed offensive.
