Razor505,

This harness plugs into the audio system wiring harness. Removal of the head unit is not required for the installation of this auxiliary input harness.

You will need to remove the passenger side kick panel, where you will find the connector on the audio system wiring harness for the auxiliary input harness. Connect the auxiliary harness to the audio system harness and install the the other end of the auxiliary harness in the glove compartment.

Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of the installation process of this harness, but there are many member generated installation guides floating around the forums.

I hope this information helps, and if there is anything else I can do, please don't hesitate to post or send a PM!

Please search the forum before giving advise
The car has to be 'pre-wired' for the AUX input, only then can one use this harness.

I believe pre-facelift cars did not have this option.

VVF,

If I am in error, I accept responsibility, however, I am basing my applications of this product off of the Mercedes-Benz parts catalog in which it states that this product is used up to the end of production in 2005. After that, there is a different harness that is used.

It is noted that the vehicle must have either COMAND, Audio 20 or Audio 50 to be wired to accept this auxiliary harness.

Do you have a link to the thread that states this auxiliary harness cannot be used for pre-facelift 203 chassis C-Class cars?

Even if it has, say, Audio 20, it may not be pre-wired for the harness (i.e. there may not be a cable from the HU to the passenger kick panel).

If you are interested, you need to search and read the relevant topics.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...layer-etc.html this thread, and posts like #63 etc. It also shows you how to make sure your car is pre-wired.

These threads wire the mini-jack cable right into the cassette player.

VVF,

Excellent heads-up, thanks for the info.

As I noted before, MB only states that this auxiliary input requires Audio 20, Audio 50 or COMAND, and mentioned nothing about some vehicles with those systems not being wired.

These threads are sure to alleviate confusion among C-Class owners that would like to make this modification.

As always, anyone who has any questions, feel free to post or send a PM, and we will do our best to help you out.

Thank you very much VVF and ESC TUNING for your inputs. As I have a 2003 c class (pre-facelift) with a retrofitted command unit, I don't have the pre wired cables and therefore this cable would not work.

Once again thank you for your help

It should be noted for those who do have the pre-wiring,
that ECS's price for the harness here is quite reasonable.

Just installed this adapter in 2005 C230K for my daughter. The ESC pricing is significantly better than ordering this cable from the dealer, and the installation took 10 min tops.

ssigarto,

Glad to hear that you bought this harness and that installation was easy for you.

Be sure to come back and check us out for any other parts you may need for that C230 or your E63.

If you don't see what you are looking for, don't hesitate to post or send a PM, we are here to help!

So I just called and got a different part number for my 2006 c230 without cd changers 2034401808, can someone else confirm this before I buy it? I was told it was confirmed with my vin number but everyone else is using 210-440-5005.
I held the CDC button and did get the aux active so it is pre-wired.

According to this thread
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...aux-input.html

I should be using the 201-440-5005 since others with 2006 c230 have been using it. Can anyone confirm this, I would like to avoid shipping back and forth.
