Whats your RPM's in 5th gear?

Hello everyone. Ive noticed that when im doing about 70mph the RPMs hit a little over 3000. Does that sound normal or should i follow some steps i read earlier in resetting the shift points on the trans?

thanks!

I'm at 2500 RPM at 65, about 2700 +/- 50 RPMs at 70MPH. Looks like you may be a bit higher than me, but I'm not sure if your engine is different, so it may be normal.

Yeah I forgot to mention its a V6 2.6l with a 5 speed auto. I just think that the RPMs maybe a bit too high for that car.

It may be just about right. It's only about a 300 RPM difference from mine, and I have the 3.2L V6. Maybe someone else can chime in on this, but maybe the difference in horsepower might have an effect on RPMs in the engine. Example, since you have slightly lower HP, it may need to raise the RPMs to sustain the speed you want.

Your slightly higher RPM is probably due to gearing of the 4-Matic. All the same, that is normal RPM range for US Spec 2.6.

Decided to check today and I am at about 75MPH when the engine is at 3000RPMs. Only different because of the engines.

of course if the road is not level (going up a slight incline) will increase your RPM to maintain the same speed..
