c class w203 271 engine crank case breather hose replacement
Sorry for the long title. I want others to be able to find this information.
Is there info here on the steps to replace this hose or alternatively the cost at MB dealers? It was supposed to be a recall item but that's not the case here in Aus it seems.
Issue is the pipes go mushy after a time. The top of mine has a split in it meaning oil vapour is being blown at the air intake for the cabin. Oil smells naturally.
It doesn't seem like it will be that hard, just don't want to remove the airbox AGAIN if I don't have to. It's strenuous getting at that bottom bolt.
Incidently, can one not just use a standard piece of this hose or are the bends too important. Rookie question I know, please forgive.

This would be your best bet, bro. Apparently this little hose plagues most W203's with the M271 engine. I just ordered mine.

From what I recall, it's a pain in the *** to do this thing, so prepare your patience, as I'm preparing mine. Good luck, mate!

Thanks for the reply and the link
Nice to have someone go through the steps for sure.
Hey, while we're here, do you know anything about replacing the serpentine belt tensioner? NOT the pulley, I've done that, I've got the whole unit and I can't find ANYTHING on how to get the ******* off, so I've done half the work, to no real effect.
BTW I think the pipe in question here runs about $45 now at MB.

Haven't gotten there so far yet, man. I just bought my MB a month and a half ago. My belt seems to operate just fine so far, but I'm positive there's a thread on here for that. I'd post a link if I knew where one was. This forum is a wealth of information and a big FU to the stealerships.
You can buy the PCV hose and healthy amount of OEM parts from this website for good prices, the hose is not $45, it's $13. http://www.eeuroparts.com/
So far I've done the following:
-Replaced Spark Plugs (Bosch Platinum) ($38 - Ebay)
-Changed the Cabin/Main Air Filter MANN Brand ($40 for both AutoZone)
-Replaced Parking Lamp Bulbs/Licence Plate Bulbs ($10 AutoZone)
-Hood Release Replaced ($9 eBay)
-Driver-Side Master Window Switch Replaced (Chinese Part for $33 eBay - Which looks and operates 100% like OEM part)
-Fixed Rattling Shift Manual Knob ($0)
-Window washer pump Replaced - ($10 eBay)
-Main Air Filter Rotted Hose w/ Housing Kit from AutoZone ($20)
-Restored headlights - wet sanded with 800-1000-2000 Grit / Finished with Rustoleum Clear Coat Spray
-Changed the oil and filter with MANN Oil Filter and 0W-40 Mobil one (Buy your Mobil 1 at Walmart $36 for 6 Quarts) Filter was $10 on eBay.
Next on agenda:
-Replace withe *Pierburg* Vacuum Pump ($149)
-Replace the infamous PCV hose ($13)
-Replace fuel filter (Paying an indy $80 to do that) $43 For Bosch Filter
If I find the link on the belt tensioner, I'll post if for sure.

What a good man :)
I've pulled out the Mass Air Fuel sensor a few times to give it a clean as I had an error code that indicated it was a problem. If you ever need to do this, there's a shortcut to getting it out. People seem to think you need to undo the pipe at the very bottom of the system but you don't and that takes about an hour off the job.
Didn't seem to fix anything till I put some oil on the seal. Sadly I don't know if this was the fix or the fact that in the same moment I put new plugs in the car as I've not had an issue since with that.
You got some good deals on parts there. Where did you get the master switch?
My door handles (inside both front ones ) are buggered and need replacing. Trying to justify the expense.

Yeah, eeuroparts.com is a great site for replacement parts. If you have a DIY on how to take the MAF off, that'd be clutch. I'd like to clean mine since I threw a P0171 & P0172 code a month back. Hasn't come back since I had the Indy Techs reset the CPU and clear the codes.
Here's the link to the master window switch. I'm tellin ya, this is EXACTLY like the one I took out. Maybe better, because the buttons illuminate a little brighter than the factory module.

Life-time warranty too! Hope this helps broheim.

Sweet. Thanks for all the help. Here's a link to the pics and guidance I put up for the MAF:

From memory I think one of the posters gave me a bit of **** for shortcutting the existing method. Not sure why that would be. Anyway, you will see my addition toward the bottom of the page.
