C32 parts to a C240
The engine and transmission works fine, but I'm not interested in swapping those in.
but everything else I'd assume are direct?
Bumper/rims/ seats.. Are the suspensions direct swap?
The seats on my C240 are half manual / electric. I would assume the C32 AMG has the full electric seats.. How about would I retrofit this?
one gripe I may have is that the interior of my C240 is grey, whereas in the C32 is black.. It may look funny if the front seats are all of a sudden black.
Anything other things you guys can think of that I can swap ?
Seems like a lot of work to transfer over the interior bits..

Interior would be HVAC digital control, Command!!! Amps & Subs,...
Let me know when your finish with picking your stuff from the C32,... I'm sure to find some parts that I would be interested in even though mine is a coupe,... there would be a number of C32 parts that compatible.
OP, if you leave some things left I wouldn't mind a pick :P
The front and rear bumpers are the same colour so I will transfer those. Side skirts as well if the AMG has different ones. Exhaust, suspensions and brakes I will try to swap. Depends if my mechanic is willing to help me do all of that stuff. It doesn't have the projector bixenon lights, so I won't be touching those lights.
Anyways, I am not sure how much I need to pay to get the car yet. The person is still thinking of a price to sell his C32. If the price is right, then I will transfer over everything. If he wants anything more than $3000 I'm not going to do it.
Also, what year is your C240 and the C32? Reason, I ask is because C32 is obviously pre-facelift - but if your C240 is post-facelift then you would be dealing with CAN-Bus VS CAN2-bus which means steering wheel plugs would be different. But if you`re both pre-facelift and you`re just going from C240 4-spoke to C32 3-spoke steering wheel, then that`s fine.
The C240 has been in the family since 2001. Bought new, and is rarely driven. It only has 70k km on it. No accident no nothing. It was bought for grandparents, but they moved onto another car and now the C240 will be for my brother who just got his license not long ago.
Both of these cars are pre-facelift, so I shouldn't run into any of the CAN-Bus vs CAN2-Bus stuff I'd assume?
I was going to get a set of 17" summer rims for the C240, but seeing that's going to run me at least $1000, I may as well buy the whole C32 and just transfer everything over. haha
Yes, C32 side skirt more agressive than C240.
I'm surprised the C32 doesn't have BIX - not factory but usually they would upgrade, so check if bumper has headlight washer option which indicate BIX option was picked, maybe they swap the BIX out. Anyways, get part number of headlight assembly of C32 and compare it to your C240,... likely C32 even though not BIX, it has foggy Xenon, whereas your C240 have foggy halogen.
Also grab the steel & rubber nib pedals from C32 to replace your black all rubber pedal.
On your C240 have you changed out your stepper motor lever? (IE Clicking foot well vent) If not you should do it and thus have to take out half the dash,... so just swap out the entire dash with C32,... and definitely upgrade to the C32 AMG seats! Memory steering wheel and seats are in same package.
Don't shy away from the electronics just because the require DAS Star to enable them. There's a number of guys around GTA with DAS Star.
If you don't grab the C32 brakes, I will.
BTW, my 2003 C230 coupe also has about 70k km,... so I guess it's official,.. I drive like grandparents!!!
Yes, the C32 only has the foggy xenons. I'm going to get a set of Depos for the C240 so not worried about that.
ah, yes the sport pedals. If I am really getting the car I will look into all of this stuff. STAR, I know a few people with it, but it is just a hassle. I guess it depends what I need them to code. The main coding needed is for the electric seats, electric steering wheel and heated seats if it came with them. Also the navigation and stuff like that I guess.
I do notice a clicking sound, but no idea where it's coming from. So it probably is the stepper motor lever.
I am not sure if I am going to get the car yet, but thinking about this swap is interesting and exciting.. haha
I just have to see what price the guy decides to sell the car for.
wow.. you have 70k km on your 2003? you must not drive it very often!
I also think the c32 has a rear limited diff, is that right?
I have no idea if it has a rear limited diff. Even if it did, I don't think it would be worth it to even drop it and put it on the C240. Labour costs.. and the C240 probably won't benefit much from it with whatever little hp it has left.
- Front bumper
- Side skirts
- Rear bumper
- Exhaust
- Brakes. (Calipers, pads, rotors) need new rotors
- Painted door handles
- Rims
Some other things I am considering..
- Front seats
- Door Panels (Mine doesn't have leather + trim)
- Rear seats + fold down options
- Bose speakers
- Digital HVAC
- CD Changer
I maybe leaving something else that I can't think of. If there is something I am missing, please let me know.
About the suspensions, can somebody chime in how the ride quality is like? The C32 does have 197k km on it, I'm scared there will be some components that will wear out soon. Maybe I should just keep my C240 springs.
Since you're changing plastic side skirt,... when you have them off both cars, check for rust forming on metal rocker panel,.... the reason I mention that is because those plastic skirts have basically no water drainage at rear quarter where its lowest,.... there's likely 2 foot of 1cm thick mud inside your plastic side skirt - need to be washed off!!! Mud trap water creating moist area for rust to form on nearby metal rocker panel. Quick test, use T20 screwdriver to take out a few of the 9-10 plastic screws at bottom of side skirt and examine thickness of mud level on inside of side skirt.

The EC button is always lit. I have tried refilling it with refrigerant but it leaks out. The AC still works on the 32, so maybe I will just swap it.
