Terrible service at MB of Tampa: Mirror issue

Over the past two weeks, sometimes my passanger side mirror never returns to its normal position after it goes into the reverse position. I usually notice it about 5/10 minutes after driving, when I first use the mirror, and fix it.

So this saturday, I go to fix it. then I decide to change the drivers side mirror too. So I switch to that one, and for some reason it doesn't move the drivers side mirror, but the Passanger mirror!

So, I decide to take it in. About 10 minutes from the dealer, I try the Driver's mirror again, and it works now. Great. So I go in and as I'm explaining it, this guy says "Well lets just go take a look," cutting me off. So he goes to the car, puts it in reverse a few times, and says "Boss it works.." Which I told him, yes, now, but its been acting up. So then he tells me that it is usually user error. Then I inform him I don't think so, and he says "We're not seeing eye to eye, let me get someone else out here."

So..he leaves, and I really dislike him. Then out comes this woman, who tells me to monitor it over the weekend, like my mirrors are some patient. Also, because its 3:30, and the service dept. closes at 4, she told me they couldn't take a look at it anyways. (This pissed me off.)

So..anyways I am leaving, and the first rude greasey haired guy drives up in some jeep. So I ask him where he's from, and he says Germany, although its obvious he's a 30 year old Puerto Rican/Spaniard. I said "So born in Germany and now selling mercedes," to which he replied sarcastically "yeah...selling mercedes..in the service department..." (the last time i try to make small talk). He then tried to go into some door, and he was locked out, and I sarcastically stated "You're obviously important."

He goes in, then comes out and states "I'm pretty important? You're talking to me about importance and you're driving, what, a c230?"

I left, without responding. And much less insulted for driving a mercedes AT a MERCEDES DEALER. I never thought my importance could be measured by what I drive, but, thats my experience with MB of Tampa. That new lexus sc300 looks sweeter every day.

Tampa, Florida right? The one off of dale mabry? if so then yah... good luck ever getting good service from them. They were a bunch of asses to me both times I went in (once to sales and once to service). They sent me to Wheel Tec saying that they did all the tire repairs etc for dealership, which turned out to be bullsh*t. Everyone I know steers clear of them now . I know of a much better independent shop up in north tampa... oh yah... those guys are actually GERMAN .

The thing is covered under warranty...so I am probably going to take it to lokey motorcars or crown eurocars, because they can both cover the warranty.

But yeah, its MB of Tampa, Fl.

Oh, on top of that, they have like 15 2003 SLK's, and one guy comes over to me, and tells me "yeah sticker on those is 49k" Which, in my opinion, could be the biggest waste of money potentially ever. It's 2004, and this dealer still has a problem moving 2003 slk's. Ouch.

I wouldn't go to crown if I were you. Both my brother in law and myself have had sub par service throughout years of trying them. I haven't had any experiences with Lokey, so good luck and let me know how they treat you .

Although I can understand and sympathize with your frustration, as a Spaniard living in Puerto Rico I'm offended by your racial slur.

Hence, don't be offended when you go to Europe, get asked and say you're an American and probably get the same look you gave this person.

... and before you get on my case about being a foreigner and/or go back to where I came from, let me tell you that I'm a naturalized American citizen who volunteered for and served proudly in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, was wounded in action and have a Purple Heart medal to prove it.

Man, bigots just get me off!!!

"Although I can understand and sympathize with your frustration, as a Spaniard living in Puerto Rico I'm offended by your racial slur."

I didn't say anything at all that can EVEN REMOTELY BE CONSIDERED A RACIAL SLUR.

I said that he had "greasy hair" which he did, and I also said that he was Spanish or Puerto Rican, I couldn't tell which from his accent, and *NOT* German like he sarcastically stated.

I apologise if you can't read, or comprehend, but DO NOT infer things that are so ridiculously preposterous.

This post was designed to elicit a few comments on what to do about this horrible service experience.

edit: Upon re-reading my post, I've concluded you're ****ing retarded. For you to interpret ANYTHING i said as racial bigotry, sigh......

****, morons **** me off.

yea, i'm a newbie, but i agree with the topic starter, that wasn't a racial slur at all!

Also, our mercedes, porsche, bimmer, vw dealership is all in one, and they suck ***!! My dad bought a new bimmer and porsche within one month, and they treated him like **** when he was gonna trade in his old porsche for a jeep, qouted him 8K under book. I hate them soo much i will drive 500 miles out of my way when i get my benz.

also, this summer i took my dad's porsche in for some warranty work, and they gave me a f***** base escort loaner. ****TY huh!!

I can't believe they downgraded the c230k like that too, thats ****ty, i personally woudn't want any other four door unless the amg c class was a 6-spd.

by the way, how do u like ur 2004 c230k???

Gee, I'm sorry Kompressor4u2nv...

I thought that when I became a citizen of this great nation and an active member of the military, I was safeguarding such great and admirable attributes as diversity, tolerance and liberty among others.

Yes, I’m sorry for having in some way actively defended that precious liberty that your father had to marry your mother and regrettably have you.

As to my not understanding what you said, I don't think so! It’s funny how in one paragraph you seem to equate “greasy” and accented English with Puerto Rican/Spaniard. If that’s not the ultimate manifestation of a racial slur and bigotry, then I don’t know what is.

I'm fluent in English and two other languages as my dominance in the nuances of your vernacular and the eloquence of my verb clearly demonstrates. So if you want to spar verbal quips or even exchange a few expletives as you so willingly seem to do with your use of (****), I am at your service.

I'm not going to respond to you anymore because your accusations are so ridiculously offbase that they really do not merit response. If anyone else in the world thinks it was racial bigotry, please let me know. Otherwise, it appears you're a one man army.

Moving on, MB of Tampa, MB of Sarasota, and MB of Clearwater all are horrible from what I've seen and heard. I've been to MB of Orlando, and they seem nice, but I haven't gone in for service.

Has anyone had any dealings with them?

I go to Lokey MB on US 19 and have had great service. Give them a call and ask for Kimberly in the service department. She has always been great. I did deal with one other guy there once that really did suck, but I only deal with Kim now. Plus, it's a lot closer than O-Town.

Thank you for the advice of Kim! I'll give her a call tomorrow...Where is lokey at, i've never been there?

edit: To BoostedPGT:

I love my c230k. I really wouldn't want another Mercedes other than maybe the e, or a c230 amg. My only gripe with the c is if they gave me another 3 inches on each side, this car would be A DREAM. Make it a little wider, you get better handling when speeding around corners and such. As for speed, and the 6-speed manual, I wouldn't have it any other way. They are both as good as anyone could want in a car. The ride is ridiculously luxorious, and is fun...and you have all the amenities and warranty that *in theory* is offered by one of the best automakers ever.

You won't regret buying a c-class...just I recommend the manual!

MB of Orlando was great in sales but so far blew a$$ with service. Their service manager tried to fix the situation but when I drive 2 hours each time to go to them there is nothing they can do to make up for my time.

Lokey is located just South of Gulf to Bay (60) on US 19. It is on the West side of the street. You can't miss it. Best of luck to ya.

MB of Orlando service is Good. Just do not expect to get it fixed the same day as a walk in. Stu in Service is who I would see, and only let Alex (Technician) work on the car. Ed Taylor is the Service Foreman, and if you need to explain something he is the one to talk to. This guy kept after my pulling to the right on my E500 for a week, and went beyond what most service people would do (If you want lengthy details I will gladly provide them). Anyway, I would rate them good, just make sure you have an appointment. BTW, if you make one in advance you can ask for a MB Loaner, and 9 out of 10 times you will get one.

Randy,
That is probably the best colour I've seen on an E. It looks fantastic Thanks for the info about MB of Orlando, its good to have recommendations so as owners we know who to deal with and who not to.

Also, have you zainoed your E or is that the original polish/shine?

thanks a lot for ur input, i wouldn't get it any other wau then the 6-spd too, i just love driving a stick and i'm sure it is more responsive. I drove an 04, but it was an auto, so its nice to hear the 6spd is that much better, of course if ur like me and like manuals. Thanx again!!

also...i was just wondering if u had to order ur car or what. I have been to 3 dealerships and NONE have 6-spds in stock!! I know they can trade, but if they have the car i want on the lot, i know i can get the price down. thanx again! Chris

Yes the car was ordered. At the time, I think there were only 2 c's in florida with a manual. They had a blue c230k with a manual, but the local BMW dealer bought it for his daughters (he bought the other daughter an automatic c230k).

So, yes, they're great cars. I don't know about haggling, but good luck with it. Also, where are you located? And if you can get a good price, let me know

Kompressor4u2nv: No I have not Zainoed the car. That is just plain old Meguiars three step with about four coats of the last step over four days with an orbital buffer. Thanks for the compliment!
