Talking Another Widebody W203 Build

Hi All, just wanted to introduce myself and my W203. I know its not everyone's taste, but I've always felt that with cars its to each his own

I've had her for about two years now; come a long way. Overall I'm happy with the way its shaping up.

Still considering:
  • Changing the wing for something like a APR GT300
  • Wider Wheels
  • Going lower at the rear like an inch.

I can def appreciate the work you've put in. I just wish I could actually see the details. The contrast is so high that its really difficult to see any details of your work.

Whats it look like from the back? What are the little details you've added on the lower front bumper and on the front fenders? What size wheels/tires have you managed to fit w/ the fender flares?

That's all I ever ask for, as one car guy to another.

We all have different tastes- IMO thats what makes modding fun.

Your car should be a reflection of you.

Regarding the wheels:
Widest I have ran so far are:
Front -19x9.5 with 235s
Rear-19x11s with 305s

I can easily do 10-11" in the front now, only concern is the tire rubbing against the spring because I'm running BC Coilovers.
The rear also has like 3inches extra of space.
I'm planning on going 3 piece 12,13" with like 325s, but lets see.

@danny2slick
Yup I will be posting more pics(have a TON). Just been alittle busy with work.
Its not exactly a kit, its just a bunch of custom parts I fabbed on top of the stock body.

@samaritrey
The car itself is a '02 C240. She came with AMG bumpers, and acouple of little other goodies like a small carbon wing, smoked corners.

The goal with it was to build it as much as possible while keeping it a reliable daily until I can just park it and then gut it and go full track car.

Here's what the back looks like:
Another Widebody W203 Build-20150309_183158_hdr_zps5bb1abyd.jpg

Here's the Build

What she looked like the 1st day I got her

Then I started doing some basic stuff like blacking it out, smoked tails, dipped the wheels, etc.

Then got my first set of wheels (18x8 all around +32mm Offset

Just wow.

First, the entire world knows it's a Mercedes. You don't have to write it on your windshield. You just look desperate to be proud of something. Like the honda folks.

Wing will slow your 0-60 times. It's for going around a bend more than 140kph. You do that often? You don't.

Springs on oem struts? They are already blown.

Stop messing with your body. These cars are put through wind tunnels and are designed for best results. YOU ARE RUINING EVERYTHING.

Please. Stop. Sell it. Buy a honda.

You did put the correct tire size on. I'll applaud you there. Lose the spacers.

Dude you have no right to say that to anyone, why so much hate? Jealous? Its his car he does whatever he wants to it.Its hes taste leave the dude alone, if you dont like then dont comment. Oh and for the strut/spring part, you look like you never heard/seen coilovers.

So you've got a spankin total of 6 posts, a 97 E320, a 13 Hyundai accent, lack a basic knowledge of cars, for some reason hate Hondas, AND are an asshat on a public forum as well? You need to really put down the crack pipe, you're wasting bandwidth.

To the OP, I appreciate all of the work as well, some I like, some I don't, but it's your car. I guess my question, though would be on eventually tracking it. A 240 is probably not the best platform to start from, unless you're planning a C32 or C55 swap; that I could see.

Never was trying to tell people its a Mercedes…I think the big star on the grill does that well enough.

The point of the windshield decal was because:
1) I like the way it looks
2) makes it look more like a Mercedes track car which as I mentioned early has been my goal from the start.

Oh and I guess you didn't notice, the Mercedes decal was from the early build phases.
I have since change the decal to a custom decal I made.

Eitherway I understand if its not your taste though… Its cool by me.

Actually the car is on coilovers, guess you don’t know what those are…but no problem: they are basically fully adjustable struts that come with significantly higher springs rates and adjustable dampening so you can get the most out of your car for autocross/track day sessions.

Lol, don’t really care about 0-60. It’s a 240, its not accelerating fast with or without a wing.

And actually yes, me and a couple of friends do high speed runs nearly every weekend around the Bear Mountain area here in NY…so I do corner at over 140kph frequently. That’s why I invested in Coilovers, Adjustable Rear Camber arms dialed in at -3 degrees, 305 width Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s, and adjustable MBArts Toe Links.

I know you might not know half of what those things are (since you don’t know what coilovers are), so I’ll simplify it:

I made my suspension pretty much fully adjustable so it meets my long term goal of turning it into a track car.

Thanks dude but actually it’s the wrong tire size on the front. I couldn’t do much wider than 235 on 9.5” because W203 coilovers come with wide progressive springs in the front. Anyone who has done coilovers on these cars will know what I’m talking about.

Oh and that’s why I needed the spacers.

Not sure what you mean…I didn’t know your opinion mattered when it comes to my car

Lol, and what if I don’t? What are you going to do? Nothing.

Take it down a notch…its just a car, and my car at that.

If you don’t like it, just appreciate the work I put into it.

But maybe you can’t do that either because you have never built a car to this extent.

So I think its be better if you just ignore my thread all together.

Thanks, thats all I ever ask for.

Haha yea absolutely a 240 is FAR from ideal, but it just kinda happened. I was in school when I started building it, and couldn’t really afford a second car so I just kept it and built it piece by piece.

And yes, I’d really like to do a C32 swap because I’ve seen several done successfully on here. That’s been my plan but haven’t fully decided yet

Also I still have a couple of parts on the shelf (specifically AMG Calipers) that I want in before I pull the trigger on the swap

I really liked the car w/ the 2.5" flares all around - the 4" flares in the back look a bit too big or maybe try 3" flares in the back? Either way, did you cut the fenders up to make the flares fit?

ps - Where'd you get the LED tails from?

Tru, I was thinking about 3", because the 4" droop down so it looks alittle wierd at times.
I actually have a pair sitting in my garage.

To what extent? Destroying your suspension geometry and slowing acceleration? No ya you are right. Never have I to that extent. I always made things better. Bet my old vr would run circles around that.

I’m sure you know what suspension geometry is.

Makes total sense considering you don’t know what coilovers are.
