Multi function display too bright
I replaced the multi function display on my 2002 c320. It is now bright orange and you can barley see the text. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Just curious, where did you purchase?
Got mine in the group buy a while back but I see there is a seller on ebay with these now, taninautoelectronix. (.com also) Not affiliated!
Yes, mine is somewhat pixelated, but at least it's readable in hot weather.
I had thought of putting some tint film on it.
Maybe try that.
Also, you can adjust the brightness a bit by turning the trip odometer
button, it adjusts the brightness of the dash lights and the MFD.

I purchased it at Tanin Auto Electronix off of ebay. I am wondering if the orange filter came out when I removed the old unit. As I recall when I put the new one in it was on a white backing. I may try the tinting film

That does dim it. The issue is the text on the display blends into the background. I was told it may be the wrong chip embedded into the display for my instrument cluster or a damaged cable. I am going to send it back for a replacement.

Have a pic? Might be defective screen or a voltage issue that I ran into trying a cheap screen. Others have had the issue with certain IC in various years. I helped out with a group buy of an Italian aftermarket screen and got to learn a lot about them lol

I was told by a Mercedes electric tech it is most likely a bad chip in the screen. I am sending it back for a refund. I ordered the correct one for the car from another supplier. I will let everyone know what happens when I install it.
