Question Bulbs (foglights and low beam)

Hi there, i'd like to replace my car's bulbs for something new, like Osram Cool Blue Hyper (5000K). Do you know what bulbs belong to the foglights, and low beam? Are they H1, H7, H11...?

Thank you.

Low beams and high beams are H7, fog lights are 9006.

If you want to get a little more umph out of your fogs and you can handle some slight modding with a small knife and file, you can get 9005 bulbs for the fogs, do a little shaving and get an extra 10w/700 lumens.

If you're looking for that 5000K HID look, I would recommend Philips Diamond Vision bulbs. All others I have tried greatly reduce useable light output. Just be careful - there's a lot of counterfeits out there (genuine Philips DV bulbs are made in Germany - if the packaging has Chinese writing, they're fakes).

what modding does the 9005 bulb need for the foglight housing?

If you look into the socket on the bulb base where the pigtail plugs in, you will see two plastic bars. Now if you look at the pigtail on your car, it has a slot for one bar in the middle. All you have to do is cut/shave the two bars/tabs on the bulb housing.

Also, the base of the bulb has 3 tabs. Sometimes, you need to shave a little off of one or 2 of those tabs (compare with the tabs on your original 9006 bulb). However, for some of us the bulb will go in with a little wiggling and nudging without having to shave those tabs. That's it!

Here's a DIY I found on the web with a little more in-depth explanation. Many also mention putting in a 2nd O ring, although I never have.

Fitting 9005 bulb in place of 9006

What he said. Diamond Visions are the whitest halogen lights, but sacrifice lumens which is why you can't find them in most stores as they are not DOT approved for street use. They're classified as off road lights. They're ok for city driving though. Definitely good enough for fogs as you're not relying on fogs for illumination. Would maybe think twice about low beams though.

Alternatively, you can also upgrade to HIDs which would give you that more modern whiter light with the corresponding lumen output. We carry top shelf Morimoto HID conversion kits that are plug and play solutions if interested.

Yeah, Michael (aznoptics) is the light guru. Everything I shared with you I learned from him.
