C230 vs BMW 3 series

I was driving from East on the San Mateo Bridge (San Francisco Bay Area) this Past Saturday. It was 8pm at night, and I knew the spots where the police are. At the beginning of the bridge, I was following a red 325ci 2002 model going about 80mi/hr. All of sudden, I saw a silver 3 series sedan and a 3000 GT going at it around 100mi/hr. After the 325 got out of the way, I tried to catch up to the two cars. At the end of the bridge, I pulled up next to the silver 3 series trying to race it up. But for some reason, maybe I caught up out of the dark or something, it just went steady at 90 mi/hr, won't race me. I think either I shocked him somewhat and he saw the mercedes headlights or it's a brand new 330i so didn't want to max it too much. But why was he/she going at 100 at the beginning. Or maybe he/she thought there was a police at the area. Anyways, I let the 330i go ahead of me because I want to see what type of 3 seres it is, and foud out it was 330i. Would of embarrassed myself, but it was all for fun.

yuck

Ci as common as Honda Civic here in bay area, unless you have some rare color like bright red or bright blue bimmer

Everyone and their mothers has a silver, metallic silver blue or black bimmer. yuck

"gold" color bimmer is the worst of all.

i dont know since when i was overwhelmed by silver cars and got sick of it. Well it's the color for 90's...

actually, since acceleration is measured in time to speed/distance...

C230K < 323
C230K auto < 325 auto
C230K/6 > 325 Manual
C230K > 328
C230K >> 330

the C230 does 0-60 in about 7.2m-7.5a (IIRC)
the 325 auto is 8.1
the 325 manual is 7.1
the last 328 manual was 6.6
the 330 auto is 7.0
the 330 manual is 6.4

2000 Z3 2.3 is 6.8

yeah but...

...the bummer of being forced to drive a bimmer has got to be worth a 1 second handicap in favour of the Merc

Who in their right mind street races cars anyway? The median age of the C 230 K owners on this site seems to be creeping well past the age of juvenile road racing - isn't it something like 62 years old now?

they're called "driving events"

we get to invade a top-teir road-racing circuit for a weekend and thrash the crap out of our cars and drive them at the limits. then at the end of the day, we buzz home, awaiting the next event... too bad the PCA always shows up... DOH!

Bob, I am truly SHOCKED that it took you this long to drop that into the fray, you're going a little soft it seems, three months ago you'd have been raising hell by now.

I've learned from experience that it's better to watch you Bimmer obsessed get all frothy around the mouth and a little sweaty on the brow before I pull out the can of slapass...

hm..

What I said is from my personal experience, c230k > 3.25 manual and auto..330 > c230k

I use to race with my friends around, and we will be going to morosso soon. 323 is no way, and the 3.30 does 6.1

I just used the MFG published numbers for both cars as they are usually the easiest to reproduce and are realistic for a normal enthusiast driver.
