Can you blow the supercharger on a 230k without damaging the engine?
I got the damn thing back under control, but when I came to another stop light 1/2 mile down the road, I was assaulted by the smell of burned rubber throughout the cabin. I let the car rest and then drove it at lunchtime, but I could still smell the rubber, but not as bad. Now, for some reason, I couldn't hear the whine of the kompressor.
Any thoughts?
BTW, is the supercharger belt driven or chain driven?

You should never drive the car hard when it is not warmed up yet. I don't see your belt slipping. Did you burn your tires at the lights? That smell will come back later when you turn your car on.

Part of the thing that concerns me is that I wasn't intentionally trying to drive her hard. Yes, I hit the accelerator somewhat hard - but I change gears roughly 3-3.5 rpm normally - the throttle just wanted to keep going! :-(

When I drive hard, I too get the faint smell sort of like burnt rubber inside the cabin (when engine is both hot or cold). I never gave it much thought as I thought it was the car breaking in (burnt finish on the exhaust or something???).

This is especially noticible if I've run the car hard just a couple of minutes before getting home (favorite stretch of road).
I don't know what it is, but I am going to note it during the next service . . . just in case.
