04.5 Black C230K Sport Sedan
continental sport extreme

I wanted to post my expericences with my 4 month old conti extremes. I live in the midwest and did not want to be switching to snow tires over the winter so I went with this all season tire from contintental. These tires worked flawless this last winter. I had 120lbs of sand in the trunk along with the tires. We have not had this bad of a winter since the 70's and my 04.5 c230k sports sedan got around as good as well as my Taurus. The tires are a little louder than the michelin pilot sports, but they dont track as bad. I dont think that the average driver will notice any difference in performance either. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a slight compromise in performance for year round, and heavy snow driving.

Awesome snow traction but they SUCK overall

Flat spots after the car sits for 8 hours or so. These cause annoying "thud, thud, thud" noises and vibration. I got rid of them at my own expense. Actually tires.com took them back but I think my refund will be prorated. I actually hated driving over 60mph because my MBZ felt like crap. I put on Toyo's Proxes 4 and my car feels like brand new again

DO NOT BUY THE CONTIS.

I bought the Conti ExtremeContact tires this past November and they have turned out to be the best tires I've purchased to date for all around driving including snow.

I wonder if the size of the tire has anyhting to do with the problems some are listing. Mine are 18" 235/45/18

I have had the Conti Extreme contacts since November. I have taken the car through all types of winter weather, including a sizable storm in the PA mountains. These tire performed flawlessly.
Yes, they experience a "flat spot" when they sit overnight, that within 5 minutes of driving, has smoothed itself out to feel like I am driving on glass. This is the same phenomenum that old Nylon Bias Ply tires exhibited in the 60's. They also exhibit more road noise than the Pilot Sports did. But the additional traction they provide in the wintery weather far exceeds the slight annoyance from the road. It is just another reason for me to turn the radio up louder.
I have 4 Pilot sports with 7,000 miles sitting in my garage that any interested party is more than encouraged to take off my hands.

I have had them on for 4 months and compared to the Pirreli's that came on the car these tires are great. Wear is great on them, they still look new. Snow and wet traction is above expected and dry traction is right on par with the old tires. Flat spots for a minute when sitting in the cold and then smooth as glass. My old ones were the same way so I am not bothered by this. So now I do not need to change my wheels and tires for the occassional time I drive in snowy weather and the tires get better grip in the rain so the wife does not ***** about that. Great for the money and well worth it.
