KLEEMANN ALLOY Pulley Dyno- 200 rwhp
Alright everyone- here it is. The ALLOY pulley has been dyno tested. Its 6.7lbs lighter than the standard pulley with the KLEEMANN "ring style" pulley.
Stock airbox/filter/rear muffler,ECU etc.

Very impressive.
Is there a dealer here in Canada?
Do you advise staying with the stock ECU or chipping it?
I don't want to damage the engine like one of our members did, however I would like to remove the speed limiter so that I can really use the extra power.

More-
There is some amount of power to be gained with a chip- several board members have posted these results. You will not have any problems using the chip with the pulley- many people are already doing so.
We are establishing a dealer in Vancouver that will be online by months end. Please check our website for their contact info when it is available.
I think the engine damage you are eluding to was the result of NO2 and nothing to do with the pulleys. NO2 is a dangerous way to get power from anything- there is just too little safety margin with the arcane control systems available with the NO2 systems. When it works its fantastic- when it doesnt it can cost you thousands.

So could we maybe assume that we could have 210rwhp with a chip?

Not to doubt you but, how do you start in 3rd gear on the automatic? I would think that if you put it in winter mode it might bypass 1st start in 2nd and then shift to 3rd sometime before hitting 120mph. I don't have the automatic so I don't know. I'm pretty sure the Kleemann posted that he had the manual before.
Also, I'm having a little trouble reading the numbers. Is that 163.5 for the stock C230 or 168.5. Mine dynoed at 167.9 so I was curious.

is this alloy pulley upgrade thing going to be around for 4 years? if the engine is changed for the 2003 model and the 230 engine is no longer used, will kleeman stop producing them?
also, installation is done thru a kleeman shop? mb dealership? any tuner shop?

You get the car started at about 35-40 mph in 3rd gear. Pull the selector down so that it will stay in 3rd and not shift to 4th till redline, and you "roll" into the throttle as no too make it downshift. This is what I had to do with my Camaro.

From what I have seen, Kleemann has said that the MB intercooler is not very efficiant. If it is like some other systems out there you could always add ice to the intercooler. My buds Mustang had a air-to-water intercooler and was able to make 10-15 more hp and 2 or 3 tenths quicker run with ice in intercooler as opposed to none. My camaro had a air to air intercooler from ATI technologies out of Texas. It was very efficiant. It only raised the intake temp 28 degrees while running 8psi boost on a 350 V8.
But as far as a new intercooler for a MB, for the price of R&D the intercooler, and install you should just get another car.

I think Opera has an intercooler upgrade for the 230 kompressor.
I think it is very possible to hook up those big front mount Greddy or HKS intercooler into our C230K. 20hp gain from a bigger intercooler is quite possible.

Long term affect?
KLEEMANN.. Do you guy's have an long term test car with this pulley set up?? Because from 163 rwhp to 200 rwhp is a lot of gain from just a pulley.. I am not saying your numbers are incorrect, but at what cause is my C230 going to make this much HP???
I always drove mustangs in my life time.. Most where Supercharged.. Yes, i did change lot of pulleys but never got this much rwhp from any of my cars..Now on MB i don't know.. I guess it is possiable but i need to know what is the long term affect on my engine??? Thanks..

Well, I have 12,000 miles on my pulley, just change the oil, and clean the air filter, no problem.
Brandon has over 30,000 (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) on his Kompressor engine, had it installed from day one.
And as for the intercooler, it's FU**ING huge for a stock item.
John.

People chip the 1.8 Turbo A4's from 150 to as much as 220HP and they don't complain about problems. I think the engine will hold up OK. Around 10 different manufacturers have been making overdrive pullies for the SLK230 and 99-00 C230K for years. Brubas makes a pulley and it's supposed to be covered by the factory warranttee from what I've heard.
Also you can get supercharger pullies for most supercharged cars including the GM 3.8 as used in Pontiacs and Buicks and the 89 Toyota MR2. This isn't something new.

I like the sound of the pulley, chip and a nice high-flow filter. All for $1200 or so. 30-40hp for under $1500 is good in my book. Bring on the 328i.
