Springs installed...will they settle?

Got my 19's and my H&R springs installed yesterday. The back looks really good, but I was really hoping for a little more drop on the front. Some people are telling me that the springs will settle a bit in the next week. I am having a hard time beleive that they are going to settle enough to notice a difference. Anyone have experience with this?

Please dont go cutting springs on a MB...geeze.

Also, they will settle a tiny bit, but in my past 6 cars with modified suspensions...they hardly dropped at all

You might not want that front any lower, as you will begin to rub on dips and turns.

I think it looks great.

I really really really don't want to cut anything...but that gap is just a bit much. I think I am just going to hope and pray for the next week or so for a good settle, then make a decision. I should just splurge for cups of coilovers, but the budget is a touch tight at the moment.

That's the only real way to take care of the front gap in a good way. But your car looks fine the way it is - I wouldn't worry about it, especially since the only thing to do would be to scrap what you just put on.

Brunelleschi, they look just great....
no need to change to anything else...

btw, i noticed the drop of H&R springs and cup kit are virtually same....??? there should be 0.6" difference in the front, but i don't see much at all...

maybe i should go w/ h&r and bilstein???

your car looks good man.. the springs i shipped to you were on my car for about a year, so more or less the springs have settled. on my car the rear tires buttlerflied out a bit too much for my taste (dot 2 pad i believe) while the fronts had a larger, more noticable gap... dont cut it!!! hope you enjoy the springs!

I'm not sure what your intention is, but an other option (if you haven't already) would be to change the rear spring pads to #4 to raise the back a bit and even out the gap. I used the #4 pads with Eibach springs and the wheel well gap in the front and rear is pretty much even. This doesn't help if you're just trying to lower the front, but I figured you might want to explore the option.

I appriciate the suggestion, but I think for my purposes, going up isn't an option.

I am just going to be patient until coilovers are an option. Until then I will just have to ride around with heavy friends in the front seat.

It is fine considering the fact that the front wheel well is larger by design than the rear. If you lower the front to match the rear you car will actually sit lower in the front than the rear and not be as level as it is now. This is more of a looks thing because of the fact that the front cut out is actually larger and raised more than the rear to allow proper clearance of the wheels when fully turned and the suspension fully compressed. Of course I see where you are coming from and sometimes I wonder why the designers do it that way, since the rear of my coupe looks visually lower than the front because of the diference in the gaps, I have all factory so it is MB's fault it looks this way not mine. Anywho, I think it looks great.

How is the ride with the new springs, much harsher than before?

Of course it is a little stiffer...but nearly as bad as I expected it to be. Not bad at all really!

If you got more drop in front then in the rear you also have to reaim your headlights again. $0.02

Now that you mention it, my lights do aim a bit lower than before with Eibach springs and #4 pads installed, but not nearly enough to have to re-aim.
