HELP PLEASE C240
Hi everyone...new member here. Just spent all my money to by a 2004 C240 4 Matic from a guy who seemed trust worthy! Afterwards I smelled gas on day 1. I brought it to a Mercedes dealer and they said it was the sending unit. They wanted $1700 to fix!! Don't have it so this girl is going to attempt changing it herself! I bought the unit and it will be here Wednesday. Can anyone tell me where it is located? I saw a video that said it was behind the back seat...? Is that true? Thanks! Any help with this adventure would be appreciated! Tutorial?

I looked it up and it is the in tank unit. The w211 pump is the same setup and there are tones of threads about changing it since it was a faulty part from the factory. Unfortunately our cars were not covered in the recall. I just did this on mine so if you get stuck let us know.

I did a search but don't see anything? Because I'm new to this...someone suggested a forum W211 but when I clicked on it...it was advertisements from Amazon? Can someone send me a tutorial or direct me in a more specific way please? Thanks!

Invest in a code reader unit first to figure out what is wrong.

Yet, you didn't give critical important information.
???
What year is the car?
What engine is in the car?
What country is the car in/from?
The M271 4-cylinder has a problem with the "$17 hose" under the intake.
Actually, all of those hoses should be changed.
For a DYI, also use thermo-shield on the hoses. Imho, the dealerships should do that also.
Fwiw, hoses deteriorating from heat is common in "older" cars (10+ years).
Often, it's from the lack of proper heat shielding from the factory - to save money.
