Just wondering if you guys have drift with your coupe yet. I mean like high speed off a 25-20 mph ramps. *with C7 pkg*

I don't think you can. The ESP takes over. I've tried going around clover leafs at high speed in the rain and it won't break loose and a yellow light on the dash comes on with an exclamation point. It retards the timing and slows the engine down and applies the brakes independently of each other to keep you from sliding. It's been fun trying to trick it but it doesn't rain much here.

On my way to dinner a couple of Sundays ago, I entered a tight cloverleaf at a foair rate of speed a couple hundred feet behind and A4 quatrro. I had the ESP off and the tail came out slightly and I held it there with the throttle. At the exit of the cloverleaf I was on car length behind the quattro.

Dinner, $12
Gas, $2
Tire wear, a few cents
Look on the face of the quattro driver, priceless.

Good one lynn. Most people dont realize that the coupe is a pretty good handling car. Granted its no Indy car but it can hang pretty good with most cars on the road.

You'll do that maybe one more time before you realize the price of replacing those expensive C7 Z-rated tires.....

i dont know how the c230 is but i find it hard to drift in the 320 since the emergency brakes are engaged by foot. I assume that a proper drift must be executed with handbrakes...well thats how i did it with my old supra.

no....you dont need the EB to do a good drift....find you a good open street (no traffic)....get to going a good amount of speed...and start hitting some turns...being RWD....oh man....its a rush! you will love it!

That would be a tail slide more than a drift on cars that are too weak to power slide around hairpin turns. You usually drift at high speed turns when all four tires break ground and slide at the same time. In a manual trans car you would downshift and use the clutch and throttle to steer once you are in the drift. It's tougher on an automatic but you can still downshift and use the throttle input to steer. If you chicken out in mid drift and let go of the throttle or apply the brakes you may lose control and end up in the bushes so make sure you are up for it before you try it and you remain focused. If you leave the ESP on then it's not going to happen anyway.

You're right...the EB gives more of a tailslide. I use to use this when making quick u turns to chase rival gang members...jk ...or maybe not...

I am surprise and happy that this car still hugs the road like trains on rails when I was doing a 70mph in a 25mph ramp off the highway.
