Do you need to turn on the PTS everytime you want to use it or does it automatically stay on if you want?

THe PTS comes on the rear when you put car in reverse. THe the front stays on all the time. The master dash switch turns the whole system off.

Very nice stuff! I'm impressed with how many mods you've done.

Looks like you got a couple of dents in the dashboard near the mirror switches, though.

Yeah, the dents are my fault. I already ordered a replacement. I have the vented seat switches installed with wiring harness but I am waiting on the actual seat pads with the fans from Steve.

Looks great!

Are the parktronic sensors color coded or painted? Did you get new bump strips with the sensors already installed, or holes already done, or did you have to drill the holes yourself? How about some details on the install and what parts you had to get?

The front bumper strips are prepainted but sensors are not. You cna get prepainted sensors are 120 dollars a pop but I preferred not to. Also, the rear has to be drilled out. The front stirps come with the holes made. As for the vented seats, I am still working on that. I already installed teh harness and the switches. I am waiting on teh actual vented seat pads from Steve. If anyone wants some extra parktronic parts, PM me. I have some parts for a full install or a rear only system. There is no front only system but you can use the main harness and just not plug in teh rear sensors.

C Class mods

Mr Sunman:

Can you please share where did you order the parts from for the PTS and folding mirrors and where did you have them intalled... (local shop you know inyour area, or if the Mercedes Dealership was able to do the work for you)...

As I mentioned to you in the PM I sent you, when I built my car, I was not allowed to bring it to the US unless I took the parktronic off (regulation(s) lingo, etc).

You can email me at: Wiedermann@aol.com

Thanks

Wiedermann

What regulations prevented you from bringing your car to the US with parktronic?

C Class Parktronic not available in the USA

Mr Silver_Lana:

I asked the same question in both US Dealership(s) and in Europe... I was never happy with the answers that I got in either place (us or Europe). Thought reasons that I was told were from a lot of pure crap like "Parktronic isn't available on C class at all!!!".. then when confronted with the fact in Europe Parktronic is standard on all cars and other just plain not valid reasons, The most up-front reasons that I got (listed in order of importance) are:

- Costs: US production C class vehicles are NOT to be offered or built with Parktronic as US production C class vehicles and most of M Benz are slightly cheaper in the USA than in Europe
- DMV requirements with C class vehicles with Partronic equipment were not in "standard" with the legal "lingo" in "all states"... and on this one, the reason varies... with FCC standards for wireless communications and so on... as the "same" systems are sold on E classes, and other Mercedes Benz vehicles... however the harness and connections do not use the same modules as larger classes
