C230 running really rich?

Hey guys new to the forums and mercedes. Glad to be here.

I recently purchased a 2003 c230 coupe. Car drives great but there is one issue I can't seem to resolve. On start up the car sputters and spits liquid out the exhaust ( I believe its fuel), then a few seconds later i get a cloud of smoke, seems to be a darkish white. 30 seconds after start up the car settles down but continues to smoke. After the benz is warmed up the smoking stops. That being said the surrounding area smells like unburnt fuel.

Im to believe the car is running very rich obviously. But for the life of me I cant figure out why.

I have changed the MAF, fuel pressure reg, and a vaccume reg.
I have one engine code which is : p0170

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Try checking your MAF and your O2 sensors. P0170 is incorrect fuel air mixture.

Glyn, I am in No means of judging your mechanical ability BUT I can not be persuaded to think alike on this one.
How could a defected Temp. sensor be causing all the OP's problems when it all seems to direct it to fuel related components.

Would you kindly elaborate on your conclusion??

Sorry I have been away. Quick update though. I changed o2 senors and injectors. Still struggleing with this issue. Im to believe I need a ecu reprogramming. Iv recently aquired some past history of the car and found out it had a seized engine due to a bad head gasket leak. Surprised the car is running so well considering that fact.

Sebb, I would suspect either your Fuel Pump or Fuel Filter is on its last leg. Definitely is a Fuel Line System, also check the area where fuel injectors are.
Let us know what's next.

Temp sensor. A faulty one could be causing the computer to think that it’s colder than it really is, thereby richening the fuel mixture.
