Mercedes Benz C180 203
MB God please help me!!
My Mercedes Benz C180 203 has suffered from a flat battery..
The battery is fairly old and I left my lights on resulting in it going flat..
I have purchased a new battery..
Everything is working (lights, windows, cluster etc.) except the car won’t start or even crank ):
any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks for reply mate..Yes I’m aware that might cause an issue..
luckily with all vehicles when removing battering I always remove positive first then the negative.
and replacing battery negative before positive.

^ Shoot. You may be screwed. For these cars it is mandatory that positive is connected first. Check your fuses. Hopefully your front SAM isn't blown.

Do you know which fuses I am looking for off the top of your head? And it’s a manual would I be able to roll start it to get it home?

I wouldn't be able to tell you off the top of my head. However there is a fuse box map. For the front SAM it would be either in the manual or inside a folded up paper slip inside the dash. To access this piece of paper, peel back the side panel of the dash, above your L knee (when sitting in the driver's seat) and behind the headlight switch. I assume your car is LHD.
Does the steering wheel lock disengage when you stick the key in? If it does, I would imagine the car can be push started as it sounds like the car is at least recognizing the key.

Thank you...It’s a RHD.. where is the piece of paper exactly where you are talking about? I know where the fuse box is on the side of the dash that is about it.. I live in Australia

Starter relay, (if it is) bang with a piece of pipe, it will start.
In my case, a 3 ft piece until I got it fixed.
Also any time you put in a new part, and then have problems that could be
attributable to that part, don't assume the new part isn't bad.
Pull the battery, and have it tested.

checked starter relay switched it seems to be fine.

in my case on this car I don’t think accessible from top..I would have to remove the cover underneath the vehicle

Look for the 3 pin plug clipped on at the airmass sensor, find the violet wire. That wire goes to solenoid of the starter. Check for 12v there when you crank.

Why MB designed their electronics to be so easily fried is completely beyond me. Keeps the parts department busy I guess.
