Sirius not for available for Stock Radio??

I went to Ray Catena (NJ) to have the Sirius satellite radio installed on my 2004 W203. They told me that it does not work on any radio but a comand system. Is that true? I dont think it is.

Thanks

But arent those options for a 3rd party Satellite radio? I want to have the dealer install the OEM Sirius radio that integrates in the car. The C Manual does have it in the manual along with instructions on how to use it!

2004s or 2004.5 were supposed to be SAT radio ready. However, that may have changed. MB had all kinds of problems getting Sirius to work right, so it may be they have changed their format.
I think you will have to have deck swap out at the dealer to get Sirius to work, and I still haven't seen any antennas anywhere, so you may need that added as part of what the dealer installs.

Yeah, the dealer just confirmed that they will have to have the head unit (deck) swapped out with a new model. That new model will not be available for another 4-5 months (since the C Class is the last to get the new unit) :-(

hmmm...according to what I was told at a show....the 05 models will no longer use fiber optic links between the components....maybe this is part of the hold up?

Not sure, but i did ask about the 05 radio and that is not what they need to install. It actually is an 04 radio. Since my car was actually manufactured in late 03, they most likley put in an 03 radio (as you prolly know, it looks exactly the same from the front). Damn this is frustrating!
