Question I got the Audio 10... now how do I install it?

I have read in these forums that the Audio 10 is a compatible in-dash CD player. So I bought one off a guy in Germany (ebay.de). So it has finally gotten here, but now I do not know how to install it, and I want to do it myslef instead of taking it to a dealer. I simply don't see how to take the metal panel off in the c230. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks....

Looks good, bet you can't wait.

Look through some old posts on how to install the CD changer. You probably think I'm crazy and you may be right but you have to plug the CD Changer fiber cable into the radio so you need to remove the radio to do it and the instructions should cover that.

BE CAREFUL BEFORE BIDDING. Only the first one will fit the new C-class. The other ones would only make nice paperweights. The W203 C has a different radio than any other MB. The first one looks like a good buy at 199 Euros (or about $178).

Does he have more of these? If so, please send me his email.
Thanks.

Does anyone know if the Audio-10 will work with the Bose system? I would think so, but before I bid on one, I thought I'd ask.

I'm also assuming that I'd be giving up the weather band feature. I listen to that all the time.

I think that the Audio-10 will work fine with Bose. I went to MB-Sweden's homepage and configured my own car. Normally this configurator reacts on combos that are not possible, but it didn't react strange when I selected Audio-10 + Bose.

No more

I emailed the guy, and he replied that he doesn't have any more audio 10s. Sorry (to those who were interested). I'm sure you will have no problem finding them somewhere else.

Installed it... sort of

So, the instructions you posted helped alot. I got the old stereo out, the new stereo in with no problem. Everything fit great. Then I tried to power it up. Nothing. All I got was a message on the steering wheel display that said "AUDIO _ _ _ _". I dont know what this means. Is it asking for a code? Do I need the dealer to do something?

As always, any help anyone could offer would be very much appreciated.

Thanks...
Craig

Yes, the person selling it to you should have given you a code. If he doesn't know what it is and it came from his car have them check with the dealer where he purchased his car. They have that in their computer so it's no biggy. Don't know anyway around the code. If he stole the radio then you are out of luck, that's what the security code is for.

Code

That is strange, because the regular stereo that came with the car did not require a code when I put it back in. I also got the message "PHONE _ _ _ _" but I guess the phone system requires a code too? Doesnt make much sense to me... I think something is wrong.

I looked at one on E-Bay.de and using Babelfish it says "Theft protection by vehicle electronics, therefore no code". Does that mean the code is for your specific car and not the radio then the dealer can do that for you pretty easily. You can certainly call the dealer or ask around in a seperate post on the forum.

If you can't get the code and still have issues try the Becker message board at http://www.beckerautosound.com

As far as I know, there is no code. Does the radio say "PROD" on the screen? The radio and the dashboard computer try to communicate with each other. If the radio can't find the car it is attached to, it will shut itself off ("PROD" mode).

Did you connect the top connector? It should be a 10-pin connector with about 5 or 6 wires present.

Maybe you shorted something. Check the fuse on the back of the radio and make sure it's not blown. If it is, just go to a hardware store and buy a 10 amp spade type fuse.
