New Owner Questions

I just got a new 04 C320 coupe. Wow! Life is good.
Auto, Glass top, Brilliant Silver, Charcoal, Intermitant, CD changer...

Here are the questions that I couldn't find already answered.

Should I opt for an earlier first oil change?

Any way to tie a MP3 player into the MB stereo / changer? Currently using a fm transmitter and looking for a hard wire install.

Second day driving I got a small bullseye on the windshield.. Are MB windshields more prone to this? Can I get a darker tint on the replacement?

Thanks

Should I opt for an earlier first oil change? Not necessary.

Can I get a darker tint on the replacement? Nope, not unless you do something aftermarket.

Thanks

The thread mentions disabling the tape function, snipping the wires to the tape motor and then using the available input as an Aux In. Looks Great. Sounds Great. The only "How To" is that was done by his buddy who is an installer at Best Buy.

I'm looking for the How To part.

Originally I was thinking about using the input from the changer, but the tape input is a much better idea.

if you have a friend who is knowedgable with electronics, or maybe print the thread out and take it to an electronics place if you want. it was just a suggestion. i dont think you can use the input from the CD changer though. it runs on the fibre optic network, doesn't it?

You might want to this forum using "Cryptnotic" and/or "Radio" and/or "Aux" and/or "w203", etc. CitronC230K_03 already provided a starting point. Using the above guidance will lead you to more.

If you do a search you'll find this topic covered to death.

IMO do an Oil and Filter change @ 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

I'll go ahead and answer my first question on this forum incase someone picks it up on another search.

The answer is here with photos.

In fact there are hundreds of answers for different years and models. This is the answer for a current C-Class. You will have to do surgery on your radio and dissable the tape function by snipping the power to the tape motor and tapping into the tape leads. There is some discussion about creating a switch to switch between Tape and Aux-input but it involves more soldering and fabricating.

In my case the solution will probably be a FM transmitter. This is a weak soultion because future plans include an onboard computer that will manage MP3s, GPS Navigation and internet.

On the Oil Change - Even synthetic is cheap.

STFF will 90% of time find you what your looking for. especially as long as the W203's have been around. maybe with the facelift and new components we might get some different questions. if you haven't found your answer and post a thread, some might flame you because they might be able to find it and you didn't due to different key words for the search. after time you'll get the lingo and all. welcome to the W203 forum. there's alot of info here and i learn something new all the time.
