power steering (hydroguide) oil for 203.706 sportcoupe c220 cdi year 2002 car
SubscribeHello all, and sorry first of all for my english..
my steering wheel i notice do noise after i have done a fast overtaking in city, and then, when i go parking my car so having the need to turn wheels left and right i hear a noise and if i look at the power steering tubing (once opened the front hood) it results greased.
i suppose some oil is missing and i need to fill completely the bowl.. i know it's not accessible from the surface but it's the need to go down but anyway...someone could gently suggest me a proper oil? color? (i ve read green but im not sure) and, above all, the brand and speficic (it must me 236.6 or 236.7 for MB?) i think i will buy a 1 LT bottle.
thank you very much in advance for all your answers,
Salvo

FYI your owner's manual found here https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servi...owners_manuals but doesn't list any spec
https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital...0_c320_c32.pdf
fluid specs can be found here
https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol...ets-sort1.html
in doc 231.1 Specified gear oils (cars, cross-country vehicles) - survey
states power steering spec is 236.3
https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/231.1_en.html
approved fluids are listed here for 236.3
https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/236.3_en.html
however if you are in a cold climate you should use spec 345.0
https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/345.0_en.html
Power steering at outside temperatures below –25 °C: Model 166, 168, 171, 172, 197, 199, 203,
HOWEVER there is a TSB referenced here to ONLY use what is listed in the 345.0 spec - https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...ing-fluid.html
which is only Pentosin CHF 11S MB Part# Q 1320001
To specifically answer your question, no 1LT Febi Bilstein 21647 is NOT an approved fluid for power steering.
If you use either of the spec above (236.3 OR 345.0) you will be ok but the preferred fluid and everyone references all over the forum is the Pentosin CHF 11S
thanks a lot...but damn, i live in italy thats not so cold here but while i waited for an answer here i had bought the oil searching for my model and engine type....and i bought the one with the wrong specific???

well looking at Amazon for the listing you purchased it states " Recommended use: Mercedes Benz 001 989 24 03" which is the MB part# for 345.0 BUT Mercedes does not "approve" Febi Bilstein products (nothing came up searching the MB BeVo)Originally Posted by hEEk

There are many other manufacturers that make things that are not approved by Mercedes, like Amsoil, Royal Purple or other racing motor oils, but work perfectly well. If you trust the brand you purchased then you are ok; but if you want to go off what MB recommends I would go with the Pentosin CHF 11S. (even though that is recommended for cold weather, TSB states to use that, many other long time members here including myself have used it as well)
IMHO since you only need to top off to get your fluid level up I would use what you bought; if you wanted to do a flush of your steering rack I would return what you purchased and buy Pentosin

thank you very much krazzdav
