Xenon foglights...

I know everyone out there likes pictures!... so I took a couple of the box where the HID kit came in.

The bulbs are 9006 and those are the same on the standard Hallogen bulb on the C32...

I have heard that they can melt the plastic around it...thats why i never put them in my mazda.

And they would make the fog lights no longer fog lights

i do believe the color of xenon lights would defeat the purpose of foglights, but they still look cool. im thinking baout buying yellow bulbs for my fogs. like the ones i had on my 300CD and 300D.

Foglights

Mr. HITMAN, Mr. W0n6_3d4n, Mr. CitronC230K_03:

The fog lights, as foglights actually have a remarkable work... though living in the area where I live, are rarely used.
HIDs were first used actually on All terrain vehicles only... in the last past few years HID's finally became legal, therefore available for road use.

Yes i'm aware of that, but as far as i know, foglights are made to shine thorugh a fog therefore it needs a yellowish colour instead of the xenon whiteish colour. Wouldn't the whiteish colour light 'bounce' right back in the fog??

For city live i guess it wouldn't matter, looks come first

Re: Re: Foglights

You dont want to have bright fogs and a yellow shade is better. The bright light of the xenon will bounce of the water particals in the fog and make it harder to see. Just like they tell you to never turn your highbeams on in fog.

I actually need my fogs in the hill country because there is alot of fog, and there arnt any street lights.

thats why im getting yellow bulbs for my fogs. like i said before HID fogs will defeat the purpose of "fog" lights.

my brother bought a set for his GTI and they look sweet. though the GTI fog lights are up in the main headlight housing, the really look great and you can tell a difference. my 300CD had great fogs. i miss them. between my yellow fogs on my C123 adn W124, and my brothers yellow fogs, ii decided to convert mine over!

Changing the color of the light has nothing to do with the physical temperature emitted by those lights. Only when you change the wattage, go higher, will you increase it.

Does the HID fog light require any ECU reprogram?

i wouldnt think so, as the HID fog isnt an option. im curious as to if there were any reuirements for bulb out warning for the lower wattage requirements of the HID's.

Answer: No. You do not need to reprogram when you upgrade to Xenon foglights. (you do have to have some ECu programming if you were upgrading headlamps from Hallogen to Bi-Xenon)
