The difference between standard leather and premium leather is that in premium leather the following is leather instead of MB-Tex -
- headrest
- gathered leather door insert
- panels on the seating surface along side the standard perforated leather center panel
Regardless, the back and sides are still MB-Tex and cloth.
Except for the gathered leather door inserts you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Personally, I think it's far better to have the standard leather because the seat bolster that you rub against getting in and out of the car would last longer in MB-Tex than leather. Also the premium leather puts leather in areas that show wear first on the seat bottoms.
So is it worth $1,500, for me absolutely not, not even half that. I would put it towards something more pratical like the HK radio or Bi-Xenons, Sirius or Nav.

im with amdeutsch on this one. this is a tough one. i think it is, then again my only other option for a 2003 was cloth and not MBTex like sedans. granted that is no longer true for the 2005's. either way i would still get leather, couldnt have anything less in mine.

sit in a car with inserts and full premium leather. hard to tell. get the roof IMHO. partial leather is better than none at all and the roof is nice to have. :p

Skip it.
you'll never get it back at resale. Its hard to tell the difference except that the door panels are gathered. Loading up a C Class doesnt make sense - its an entry level little car - save it for a higher line model.
get the leatherette
I had the "Montana" leather in my BMW 3 series, and the leather fadded after only 28,000 miles. Now I have had MB-Tex and after 60,000 miles nothing has faded.

Very much your opinon
No, at 178 Inches it is very much a small car. Not much bigger than a Civic - Of course it is an entry level car - i don't see how that's a matter of opinion. I know it, you know it, the valet know's it, the person driving up in their Hulking Subaru Forester (compared to the C) knows it. It's also my opinion that it doesnt make sense to buy a $24K Honda Accord when the same model can be bought for $18K. Its the same car aimed at the same market - just a lot of options to pad the top line. My experience in selling the C Class is that you don't get anything back on options even the NAV (though it will get people interested). If being financially prudent isnt a concern to you by all means get the leather. A 1500 cost that dissapears in 3 years is not a good idea.
I've got the premium-premium MB leather, everything from seat surface to sides to back panels to seat bottom. And it squeaks everytime I'm getting into/out of the car or moving my butt! The MB leather is so thick that it rubs the plastic seat covers pretty hard...
