My key fob stopped working all of a sudden!

Hi all so today I used my key fob and the next moment it is mot sending signals (the light is not flashing) swapped the batteries with new ones and still the same. No drops or shocks. Completely out of the blue! Thank you!

New

With $350 and a new key. I'd try some new batteries first. Believe the light flashes when the batteries are low

Check the fuse in the back of the car first. Take a DVM to your remote batteries and make sure that they are actually good.

my spare key works just fine man so I guess the main one is not functioning (just the lock/unlock/trunk options)

had that happened to me a few months ago with my c230k when i got it i didnt get an extra key. so i was having starting it up for a while. changed the batteries to no avail. got many recommendations to get another key to test to make sure its not the mechanism in the steering column...so bit bullet and got another key for $320...it was the key, all is good now. imo expensive way to test, but hey at least it wasnt the mechanism in the steering wheel column

If your spare works fine then it is a key problem.

You state your lock/unlock and trunk works then your infrared and led should blink. Use your phone camera, face it at the end of the key and when you press it you should see a purple led blink. You cannot see this with your naked eye and has to be viewed through a camera.
The remote function is a separate function from the key actually starting the car. The key battery can also be dead and still start the car as the computer reads the key when it is inserted and the battery is only used for the lock/unlock function.

You have 3 options -- 1 is clean the key, 2 is repair the key and 3 buy a new one. Depending on your skill level you may only be able to do option 1 and 3.

Clean your key --

Repair the key with another circuit board and solder your existing microchip onto it -- (dont worry about the key reader -- you are only wanting to follow the chip replacement and testing in your ignition)
If you go with another circuit board ensure the key type / model number you purchase is a match (i think FCC ID and another number on the plastic that holds the battery)

Most expensive and last resort option is to buy a new key from a dealer
