On '05's there is both an orange light next to the garage buttons as well as a orange light on the bottom center of the rear view mirror for ambient lighting. RIGHT!

Must be on the newer C's because I have it on my 2004.5 but not on the ole 2002. This must be to make up for the the fresh air thumbwheel they removed from in between the center vents.

Seriously considering modding my car so that there is red lighting under the feet in the front. Take the red LED "ricer" car accent lights (the kind with the 2" of clear plastic), then mount them WAY up in the footwell out of the way. If I can find a way to cleanly hide the wires, it may make for a very nice looking effect. Considereing the possibilities...

The ambiance lighting/interior lighting in the BMW comparing BMW 3 series with the premium interior lighting vs M Benz C class 2005 or highger (2002, 2003 versions DO NOT have ambiance lighting...
), BMW 5 vs E class, etc, BMW has better illumination, clarity and overall lighting all together (interior AND exterior). Like members on this board have said, there are BMW people and there are M B people... I happen to be on the Benz side
EVEN though BMW's is got a leg up front on the lgihting side.... I have to hear my wife tell me how her BMW @ 40k less than my M Benz has better lighting, blah, blah... women!!!... lol...
Mr Sunman wrong????... nahhhh.. that is IMPOSSIBLE!!!!... LOL...
I bet he (Mr Sunman of course... who did you think I am talking about???...lol) is spending all night ordering the part no for the interior lighting to retro fit onto his W203![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

As the original thread poster, my car is a 2004.5. 230K Sedan
On the underside of the rearview mirror, from left to right, is the transmitter LED, three programmable buttons, and finally the orange ambient lighting LED which is located in the bottom center of the mirror frame, pointing down.
Little sucker gets hot, and is on all the time. But yes, it is cool, and not really noticeable until you refer to the center dash controls. Slight orange hue, looking very cool against the aluminum finish at night.

My 2004.5 C240 has it.
One thing I always liked about the Jag is the elegance of the "ambient lightling". Glad to find it on the MBZ.

Mr. Wiedermann
I feel we as husbands should consider ourselves lucky that we have wifes who don't complain about major issues. Or is that just me? I think I will start a thread about wives and our cars
