"Service A" done on my car
Just had a "Service A" done on my car. This includes some regular checks and an Oil Change. The oil used was described as "synthetic oil" but the brand of the oil was not shown.
Cost: $203.00 including taxes. (Canadian $)
Also, I noticed that the Driver side mirror's auto-dimming is no longer working. They are ordering a new mirror for me and I will be notified when the mirror arrives.

Why did you have to pay for an A-service? Does Canada not have free scheduled maintenance for 4 years/50000 miles like the US? Or did you have them perform the service way before the car was due for it, in which case MB doesn't pay for it?

And our cars don't come with alarms as standard equipment.
These are part of the reason the car is cheaper here.

The price for Service A is a good one! Frankly, I'd rather pay for maybe 5-6 services at a cost of $1500 CDN ($1000 US) total and lose the irritating, low-tech alarm (in Europe a high-tech alarm can be ordered - it has interior motion sensors too), in exchange for a car that's $4000 US cheaper.

My service was due at 8000Kms according to the computer. I took my car to the Mercedes shop at around 7800Kms. My next service will be "Service B" in another 8000Kms.
I regret purchasing the Factory Alarm option. I think I should've got POWER SEATS instead. Otherwise, everything is great.
Oh, my mirror arrive last Friday and my appointment is for this Friday.

Service A
Y_F_R,
Thanks for the info. 8000 km sounds like not too much for the first service. Do you drive in the city a lot? I think some others have gone nearly twice as far before needing Service A.

I got my car serviced at Lone Star Mercedes. I went for the Service A as suggested by the computer. The service seemed pretty good. I got a car wash as well but I didn't think the car wash was too good. They missed cleaning the rear quarter panel of the car... so I think I will wash the car prior to bringing it for servicing the next time.
Almost all of my driving is within the city... I've only driven in the Highway a few times... and not for very long distances (only about 50KM)
I won't if my Service inteval will increase if I drive in the Highway more often.

Alarm
Let me be clear, I hate car alarms - they're an urban blight and if someone wants your car they WILL get it one way or another. Rant over.
In Europe they have two types of alarms; the basic one (code 551), which is the alarm with towing sensor, and the additional one (code 882) which includes interior motion sensors. You can order each one separately in Europe, or both together.
In Canada, only the "Code 551" alarm is available. I don't know if the "code 882" one can be special-ordered in Canada.
