No, but you can always get them at a parts department of any MB dealer. They are inexpensive, too.

spring pads

Actually,

The pads come in size 5mm, 9mm, 13mm and 17mm. That's for the w203 at least. The size 5mm to 23mm might be for other cars. For the w203's, the #1 pads being 5mm and the #4 pads being 17mm. My sport packaged 2002 sedan came with #3 pads for the rears and like others have said, no pads in the fronts.

Same pads, different measurement reference points.

I wanted the service dept to tell me what my stock pads size was, but the service advisor couldn't find any info on the thinkness of the stock pads for the 2003 230k sedans. He did come up with all the part numbers and available thickness info though...

So, does anyone know what the stock thickness is for the 03 230k sedans?

210 325 01 84 (5mm)
210 325 02 84 (9mm)
210 325 03 84 (13mm)
210 325 04 84 (17mm)

pad size

I would guess that the c230k would have the same spring pads as the ones that came with my sport package c320. But it is easy to tell what pads came with your car. Just look under your car. You should see tiny round bumps on the exposed part of the spring pad. The number of bumps indicate what pads you have.

4 sizes of spring pads, vary from 9mm to 17mm thickness. You MUST have them to fit in rears. Cost about $4 each if I remember correctly. Front struts DO NOT have pads, only rear. 1/2 coil on front would look nice, but I'd be too worried about safety/suspension issues. Hope this helps.

thx

Thanks Preyx

Do you know what comes stock on my car? The installers just put them back in with my H&R springs, whatever they were....? I would like to make it lower in the rear too maybe but the front for sure. I am confused because I have read that there are pads in fron too, but those guys may have had different class car. do w203's have no pads in front and others have pads in front?

As far as I've checked with the dealers, the techs report no pads on the front. My car surprisingly came with the thinnes pads already installed, so I wasted my time/money buying another pair. I can mail the pads to you if you want, since they're of no use to me now. (maybe something like $3 w/USPS priority)

when I installed my springs the guy asked me if i wanted spring pads. I didnt know what he was talking about so i said if its needed go ahead and put it. My back is lower then I intended but it looks good. only if the front was as nice as the back it would be perfect. im not sure what number he used or if he used one at all.

Spring pads help seat the top end of the spring into the rear suspension. They're required to be there with the spring, so your guy had used the pads that had come with the car (the thickness is anyone's guess), or had switched over to the thinnest pads. Either way, you have spring pads somewhere in there...

Spring pad is use to "seat" the rear spring, so it will stand straight. Number indicate the thickness. One dot is the thinnest pad (5mm)

The thickest is 17mm, #2 could be in 8-10mm.

Pad 1 = 210-325-01-84 = 5mm
Pad 2 = 210-325-02-84 = 9 mm
Pad 3 - 210-325-03-84 = 13 mm
Pad 4 = 210-325-04-84 = 17mm.

Most cars have Pad 3 installed. Pad 4 is for higher ground clearance in some parts of the world.

I have listed the part numbers already. Ask your dealer for them. Also, these parts are for rear only. No pads for front.

I think your local tuner shop will also have'em if they have regular MB/BMW/Audi customer basis.

What's a Spring Pad?

Hey all,

I'm kind of new to this European car scene and I have a dumb question. I'm interested in lowering my '05 C230 and when looking through the forums I noticed many people talking about 8mm-10mm spring pads. What the hell is a spring pad?? Thanks!

There are 4 different levels of spring pads for the w203. 1 being the thinnest, 4 being the thickest. As far as I understand it, the spring pad is only in the rear (but I could be wrong on this). This affects the ride height of the car. I believe all the "sport" models have a #1 pad in the rear.

Confirmed. Drex is right, what people do when they lower their cars is they would put a pad #4 (the highest) for the rear so that the drop would look even - coz the rear is lower than the front.
