some will do it for free others charge something like $25+ and some won't even do it period...its between you and your relationship with the dealer

BTW a search would help you greatly! this has been discussed numerous times, you may want to check out the user sunman, he has the baddest C class ever! he's got heated seats in the back everything! (even stuff you can't get)

also contact MBenzNL (Steve and or Wanda) they have many things you can retro fit into your car (i.e. Command, parktronic etc...)

The netherlands setting will remove the panic feature and enable the chirp. if you want both, you need to use a star diag with developer mode. This will enable you to switch the duration of each beep, the number of beeps for unlock and lock. I don't know of any dealers that have star diag with developer mode.

Anyone have this done in Massachusetts for free? If so, which dealership?? I asked my nearest dealership, they said they weren't able to do it there.

turning it on or off does not affect the panic feature, my dealer had it turned on after some warrantee work and the panic feature also worked. What a pain the the rear, I had to make another trip to the dealer to have that stupid noise turned off. That stupid beep noise was cool like 20 years ago. turn it off and just flash the lights. A lot classier than beeping like every toyota in the parking lot.

I drive an 05 c230SS. My dealer first told me that it couldnt be done. I explained that it could and it was working the way I wanted it before my service appointment. They had me talk to the tech and I told him to look in the star diag. for the netherland setting. Five minutes later I had my car back and the chirping was off.

..
Steve enabled the Netherlands setting on my car and my panic feature still functions.

The beeps are convenient so you don't have to keep looking back at the car to make sure it actually locked.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
I like the panic function...mostly when I'm panicking because I have no idea where I parked.
Also useful for dispersing people....for whatever reason...
I used it because some numnuts was leaning on my car...it took several times for him to get the hint. Or if some undesirables are hanging about in the vicinity.

My panic function still works. I don't know how, but Steve is the one who programmed mine. Netherlands setting and Panic function!

Mine came from factory w/ Netherland setting (chirps for arming and disarming) and the panic feature also works.

That's because you have a 2006. That was the year that they made the chirp widely available on the cars without having to do Netherlands setting. Although I did see a 2005 E55 AMG that did the chirp and was not Netherlands setting. I think for the W211 they had this feature in earlier model years.

what is the exact name under Star, anyone? i know it's under country "NEATHERLANDS" but i am sure my SA will ask me where to set that.

edit: i dont care for the panic mode, if i lose that, then so be it.
