The Truth about Netherlands Setting

I played with a DAS system for several hours today. Many people wanted to make their car chirp with the remote. The only country you can set so it will enable chirping is the NETHERLANDS. But, you WILL LOSE PANIC Feature. I tried every single country on the list and NETHERLANDS is the only one that chirps. Steve must have something to do with this. Also, for those adding Interior Motion Sensor, the country has to be changed to MEXICO WITH INTERIOR MOTION SENSOR. I tested the sensor and it works great. THERE IS NO SETTING WITH CHIRP AND PANIC FEATURE TOGETHER. I checked everything in the DAS system with all settings. And trust me, there are a lot of settings!

Sunman is correct, in fact, I just had my CLK switched to the Netherlands setting yesterday! It will make the car chirp when locking and unlocking, you will lose the panic feature, but the alarm will still activate as normal.

yes i have had the netherlands setting set on my car for about a year and a half and i like the beeping sound. i dont have to look back to see if the car has locked or not. i dont care about the panic button to much. doesnt bother me.

thanks for the input about the IMS sunman. if i do decide to get this then ill need the country setting then. sunamn can you send me some size specifications on the IMS. i want to make sure there is enough room between the glass on the pano roof.

Can I set my car to chirp even if I don't have the factory alarm on my car?

Here is a good one for Mr Sunman:

My E beast (AMG W211) does chirp and has the panic button enabled. That is how the car came from the manufacturer.

I have never played with the DAS hooked to a w211. If you say it does, then it must.

if you do not have an alarm then you cannot chirp. The sound comes from the alarm siren located behind the front right wheel under the plastic.

i like it. the reason i like it is because i was never sure if the car was locked and i would look back to see if the lights were flashing. or if i forgot to the car and was in the house i would walk to the car to see the lights flash. now i can stick my head out the door and listen for the chirp or while im walking away i hear the 3 chirps and know the car is locked. to me the audio is more helpful than just the visual effect of the blinking lights.

Unless this comes with the car, how you know the complete list of options that can be changed like this chirping sound?

I personally don't like the chirp so mine is disabled. As for these weird options, most people will never know about them. I came acrross this by playing with a DAS system hooked to my car. The DAS system is at your dealer and most probably, the dealer will not let you play with it.

i wanted it because my windows are tinted really dark and i cant see the door pins if they are up or down from the outside. if i heard the chirps then i would know my car is locked and not have to second guess myself all the time.

It's more like a beep. Like the lexus cars. As for 208, Not sure about that car. 208 and 210 have vacuum controlled door locks so they are very very hard to hear. 210 has a visual light confirmation so it's a bit easier with the red and green light on the rear view mirror facing outside.

1. does the chirp turn off the lights from blinking? i sort of want both chirp and blinking lights.

2. i don't know if this is true, but i remember a thread was made last year that had a member who had trouble with his alarm. when he got the car back, the car chirped and the panic button worked.

The lights blink with the chirps so 3 chirps to arm and 1 to disarm. I remember that thread also but it is impossible in the real world to do that. I have tried playing with the DAS system for several hours and it is not possible to do that. Must have been a glitch.

i like the chirp for practical reasons. its not really pleasing to the ears, but then again i dont sit with my back to the front tire and continuously lock my car. chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chrip.......
