RTFM. Dealers are authorized to give you a Yugo as a loaner . But its solely at their disgression.

Service A is a glorified Oil change. Service B is a glorified Oil change and then some.

For the amount of time you guys spend telling him to STFF or RTFM you could at least answer his question.

There is a lot of great information here, but the attitude of a lot of the long time posters is rude at best, especially when it is a newbee asking the question. These people make you feel about as welcome as a .... fill in the blank.

I agree totally with SteveS. I think most of us in this community are here to share their experience and thoughts about their cars. A simple question from someone new or not familiar with something is just lame and inconsiderate.

service a and b are oil changes. a is basic and they will rotate the tires and and go thru a basic checklist. B they will do what they do on the A but will also change out the wiper blades. each have there own checklist. i cant remember off hand exactly what is performed, please consult your maintenace booklet which was provided to you at the time of purchase.

hey, how'd i do?

sorry guys... since we're on the topic... i have some questions too... my car is going to get service A pretty soon... for the past two services, the dealer has been charging me for tire rotation and balancing, is that normal?

Boy... my dealer charges me $525.00 for a service B... I SO know they do more then just change the oil and window washer blades! As what was said earlier, the manual has detail about it.

tell him to RTFM is appropriate as the individual will learn more that way. when it is more appropriate to ask a question and not seem so lazy? when you RTFM and find that Service A says blah blah blah and the dealer is doing crap crap crap. you'd question that and ask if service A has changed since the printing of the manual.

CLK 320
I personally think it's rude and elitist to answer everything that was previously discussed with "use the search feature" or "RTFM n00b" -- it gives people the wrong idea about what kind of community they're joining, and probably just keeps people from asking questions in the first place -- and instead end up getting ripped off by the dealer or somebody else.

By the same token, I think it's lazy and asinine to ask something before searching for the info. The Service A vs. B has been discussed in almost every folder here, as well as being available on most dealer's website.

But getting back on track...

There's a good explanation on the W208 folder about this...

https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....2&postcount=19

Whether this is worth the price that the dealers charge or not is still up to debate throughout the forums... and I don't think anybody ever posted about how to reset the FSS counter either.

Just had my CLK in for B-service. It varies by model series (202, 220, etc)

but I had:

battery serviced (and load test)
tire rotation (and balance if needed)
brake fluid flush and replace (every two years)
cooling system flush and replace (every three years)
cabin dust filter
wiper blade
inspect poly V-belt (serpantine belt)
check fluid levels (pwr steering, battery level, winshield washer)
inspect brakes
inspect for any leaks - engine, transmission, hoses
inspect drive axle boots, front ball joints
clean & lube throttle linkage
lube hood catch and hinges

in addition to the oil & oil filter change.
