It'll fit....but it'll look kind of funky....
Also, you might want to think about this: MB systems are connected with Fiber Optics to the various components. If you bypass this, you miss out on steering wheel controls and integrated telephone (if equipped). You may also find that you constantly get a "No Audio" error code on your MFD.

Im looking for another HU cause I currently have no CD and also I need something with an RCA input to run my MP3 Changer in the back. Where would the "No audio" code be displayed? Is there anyway to get an input out of the stock deck?

Get the MB Audio 10 indash receiver/CD by Becker. It's a much better sounding radio than the Audio cassette unit from Alpine that's in there now. It's the same size as the Alpine unit so it's plug and play. The only downside is it's not available in the U.S. I got mine in Germany on Ebay.de for $228 shipped. You can call a dealer there and order it. The Stuttgart dealer speaks english.
The navigation system has aux in for the MP3 player but it's a little pricey. You can to use an RF MP3 player to make it work with the stock unit or the Audio 10. The problem with an aftermarket HU is that nobody makes the convex odd shaped face plate for it that I know of and the ones I've seen done look cheezy. Also there's no bracket to convert to a din size radio.

Look for a faceplate and bracket kit first otherwise you are going to be making a mess. It's not a din size opening, it's not a rectangle and it curves on two planes.

I haven't been able to find a trim adapter for a normal rectangular DIN sized head unit.
Even if you cut a piece of ABS plastic to sort of fit the space, it won't quite look right since it's flat and not curved to match the dash.

I've seen some that a local stereo shop does for the local MB dealer and it takes him about 2 hours to make one. He uses heat to mold the plastic into the proper shape, breaks a few and then when he gets it right he has to cut it to the right shape and then make a bracket to hold the radio. He charged about $400 including a cheap pioneer headunit. It looks OK but far from acceptable for me.
Now if you are adventurous, I've heard that in some countries you can order a W203 car with a radio delete option, afterall MBs are taxicabs in Germany. It comes with a plate that covers where the radio would have gone. Some claim to have cut a DIN size hole in it to make their own faceplate. I have no other info other than that.
Show us some pics when you have it worked out.

I would like to have a faceplate too....I've one made by an installer but it looks 70% okay. Does anyone know if the MB parts manual that the parts advisor read is for all MB parts dept worldwide (except for the languages)? If so, I think we should be able to find the original "radio-less" plate through that manual!!!

Start with your local parts counter and see if they can find it. If not call the dealer in Stuttgart, they speak english and ask for their parts counter. Personally it's a lot of work when the Becker Audio 10 sounds great and has an in-dash CD.

The problem with the stock radio/tape deck and the Becker 10 is that it doesn't integrate well with an external amplifier or an auxillary input from an MP3 player.
After you start changing out the speakers, adding an amplifier, and building a subwoofer enclosure, you don't want to hook up your external device through an RF modulator.

Cryptonic, thats exactly what I was thinking. I purchased a whole system, amps, subs, components, and the Mp3 Changer, the only problem is the HU. I wish there was a way to install an aftermarket HU. By chance would the Nakamichi CD-45z fit any better since its a bit larger?
