Comfort Mode during first 1000K miles and Kompressor Sound

I was reading in the manual that you have to drive in C Mode (Comfort Mode) for the first 1000K miles. Have all of you been doing this? What is the difference between C and S mode?

Also, I haven't opened it up on the road yet in terms of punching the gas pedal and I've never owned a kompressor before. When I finally "punch it" will i hear the kompressor working like a Turbo or a VTec engine at a specific RPM?

Reread the manual again because it explains the difference to you.

I think you misread. 1000K miles is one million miles.

i think u mean the break in period which is 1000 mile? In the car, u can barely hear the supercharger's sound.

DAMN... I wish i read about this last week before i went on my break-in drive to Montery, CA. I checked my manual and it does say on the 1k break-in to put the gear on C. Too late now, i've put in 1,600 miles on my 2 week old car. I wonder if it's too late to drive using the C "comfort" gear?

I've driven about 1000 miles now. I read the manual, but must have missed that one little sentence.

I had it on Sport mode the whole time. It's been fun. Still is. Woohoo! Can't be that big a deal.

I think they want you to use the C mode so you don't rev high, and also C goes straight to 2nd. You'll notice the weaker acceleration from a stop.

What? You mean you are not supposed to hear the supercharger? Mine makes a loud howling sound which I thought was not normal but the service advisor said it was!!!

Can anyone else verify that the supercharger SHOULD NOT make any howling sound please...

The manual in this part of the world does not mention about putting the transmission in "C" during the break-in period. The dealer told me to use "S" from day one, which was what I did.

You should here a sound...I wouldn't discribe mine as a "loud howl" per say...but more like a "medium whirl", and that's only if I get on it hard...other than that, I dont hear it or it sounds the same as any normal engine sound.

The dealer told me to put it on S from day one too, but I found hidden in the manual that it should be driven in C for its 1000 breakin period.

I went to see my new car today and I'll post pictures in another thread tonight, but when I go pick it up HOPEFULLY tomorrow, I'll see what my dealer tells me. At least I know better thanks to this thread, but let's see what he has to say about it.

So how did she look? Red is HOT! You must be dying of anticipation. How come you couldn't pick it up today? It usually only takes a few hours to do the paper work and final detailing...

I took my car in to the dealer at about 500 miles to have them check this problem i thought i had with the transmission. and the service guy told me to keep the car in "S" all the time but to put it in "C" during the winter.

She looks GREAT !! I saw her and took some pictures. She was ready to go but I was in my truck and didn't have anyone to bring it back for me. A friend is going to try to take me tomorrow, if not I'll go Monday morning with a neighbor that works real close and bring her back.

I have the pictures and I'll post them in the "Official C-Class Picture Thread" in about 5 minutes. I have to get them down to size first.
