'05 C-Class Gift
Got a gift from MBUSA and my dealership (Euro Motorcars) today for the purchase of my '05 C230. They sent a leather travel folio with "Mercedes Benz" and the star embossed on the inside, very nice piece. Also came with a few owners manuals/CD's for Tele-Aid, things of that sort.
It was a welcome suprise in the mail today. Anyone else get a gift for their purchase yet?

yah, we got gifts from our dealerships in Ottawa, Canada. i remember at Carling Motors in 1995, we bought our C280 and they gave us a full, large fruit basket along with a card. when we referred 2 of our friends to get M classes at another dealer after we got ours there, they gave us a Hugo Boss MB shirt and a regular MB shirt for referring our friends.

AutoNation was founded by the guy who started Waste Management (gigantic national garbage conglomerate), and Blockbuster Video. That dude could wreck an SLR everyday for fun and still not blink.
Anyway, I digress. Maybe AutoNation-owned dealerships are under cost-cutting constraints and free teddy bears are the first thing to go?

my dad bought an '03 ML55, and my mom has a '00 E320, and all my dad got was a dumb Mercedes keychain w/ the dealers name embossed, and the only thing my mom got was some kind of Napa Valley picture book.. 
Plus, the dealership is owned by my grandpa,his siblings, and his cousin, although, that could be the reason why we barely got anything..

Did it come from your dealership or MB corporate offices? How long did it take to get your gift after your purchase?

They also send me a Mercedes Magazine every few months. I forgot the name of it. I also get the fletcher jones report as well.

I didn't get crap from Smythe, but my friend who bought a CLK and an ML on the same day (he had just moved here) got all kinds of free junk, including: caps, shirts and a couple of watches. He said after he and his salesman closed the deal they went over to the parts department and the salesman let him pick out a bunch of stuff.
However, I picked up my car in the evening after the parts department had closed. When talking with my saleman the next day I asked if there was a discount for purchases from the parts department (a benefit I had received in the past from other dealers). He said there was no discount for customers and asked what it was I wanted, when I told him a car cover and wheel-locks, he just said, "Oh."
This conversation and my friend's experience led me to beleive that at Smythe each saleman is probably given some credit (or he uses a little of his sales commission) with the parts department that he uses to gift a customer some "freebies." I think if I had told my salesman I wanted a cap and a coffee cup he would have happly given them to me - but he balked at the $200 dollar cover and $70 wheel locks.

The gift (leather travel folio) actually comes from MB Corporate, not the dealer. However, in my letter it says a gift from MBUSA and your dealer yet it is sent from a MB Corporate address, not my dealer.
