It seems that the European part number is now the US part number as well. I tired to order one last Saturday and they told me the part number has changed to A 210 440 50 05. I guess it just took a while for the US to use up the old stock.

Does this allow you to control the IPOD through the stereo or is it just an aux output?

Its a lineout for the Ipod. It does not allow you to control the ipod through the MB stereo system.

It does allow you to use the lineout connection rather then the headphone connection to the AUX input of the car. (AFTER you installed the AUX Cable)

I like it cause its small and compact. I didn't care too much for the car charger / regular dock / stand solutions I had seen around. Too many unsitely wires.

Anyway its $24.99 - only available online. I got it at amazon.com

on my c32 I have the aux input installed. I had the problem where I have to crank up the volume just to be able to hear the music. well found the solution when I bought an Ipod video. I used this cigarette lighter adapter that is made by belkin, it has a built in Amp on it so you can just set it to the highest setting. and you dont have to touch the volume on your Ipod. I had this thing wired derect so I dont have a plug on my cigarette lighter connected all the time. the Ipod sits by my cup holder where I can change the songs anytime I want.

You mind posting a pic?

I looked at that same product and felt it was too many wires. Do you have them hidden?

https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/123027-ipod-nano-install-2003-c32-comand.html

you have to scroll down to see it. the charger is hidden inside where the shifter is, there is a lot of room to put it in there.

One guy here in this forum took this pic I think its Johncl, johncl I hope you dont mind if i use it. let me know if you want me to take it off.

this is what he did when he did hix XM install.

now I only have one wire going to my Ipod, very clean and still have my cigarette lighter fo other use.

oh, cool, thanks!

excuse my ignorance, but what does a "clean ground" mean? it looks like I may just be getting the filter...

I just saw the pic... Trekman, where did you get that additional cig lighter plug or extender looking thing? I want to get one of those...

I just realized that I had a $20 gift cert to crutchfield, so I went ahead and ordered the filter. Thanks for letting me know! The buzz was annoying the hell out of me!

you can go to radio shack and get one for $10. tap it on your cigarette lighter, use tie wires so its all secured. I would use that filter so you wont need to ground the negative on the frame of your car. good luck

I just installed the Aux cable last night for my sister 2006 C230.
It only took me 15 minutes. The 4 pin white connector is inside the plastic wire tray.
You have to open and look for the loose white connector.

I also try to play a CD-R with music MP3 files but the in dash CD player played it but no sound. What did I do wrong ? Help is appreciated.

It's because the in-dash CD player can't play MP3 discs.

According to the window sticker of 2006 C230:
The standard audio for 06 is AM/FM Stereo/weather band. In dash single-CD player with MP3 capability. Any 06 owner try it yet ?

I also read else where in the Forum that the 06 CD Changer is backward compatiable with 05 Cars.

Not sure. What I do know is that the 06 MP3 6-CD Changer is fiber optic, so if you're 02 isn't wire for fiber then I can tell you it definately won't work.

If 02s are then there is a possibilty. Since the MP3 decoding actually happens at the CD-Changer level and not at the Head Unit level I would assume that the 06 would work in all C-Class cars that are fiber compatible.

Then again this is an assumption, and I would ask a more knowledgable member to weigh in on this.

If you HATE radio commercials why not consider sattelite?

1)it is fiber optic....i called MB before i bought the car for a price quote on a changer, and he mentioned a fiber optic cable for $40 or so. so this IS a possibility.

2)i hate not being in control.......i only listen to a few CD's- namely marilyn mansons new CD, White zombie, Ludacris, beethoven, classical, disturbed, and electronica....surprisingly enough only 6 cd's worth of music that i've been listening to for years, and never get tired of em. thats why i was figuring thhe MP3 player would be nice.

but then again satelite radio has all good music on almost all the time. hmm.

See post 101 of this thread. There is a screw in the center of the panel in the right foot well. It has an oval cover you can pry out with an orange stick.
Orange sticks are Orange wood, and come from manicure supply shops.

What is the number on the connector? There are a number of connectors there, you might not have fished out the right one.
