illuminated door sills?
i'm asking alot of questions today because i'm gonna order my car by the end of this week.
i went to 2 local dealers yesterday and neither one of them could find the illuminated door sills listed as an option. is this a dealer installed thing or what? it's not listed in the 2003 brochure but it is on mbusa.com. anyone have any idea on this? thanks again

It's not an option, it's an accessory.
You'd buy them from the dealer, and have them installed by them. But, if you buy them as part of your purchase, they would be covered under the 4-yr warranty, I think.
I really like 'em, but both the price of the parts, and worse what local dealers want to charge for them are downright scary!

It IS an accessory. And you can find it on mbusa.com. Go to:
"C-class"> "C230 Kompressor Sports Coupe"> click "Build Your Own"> click "Step 3 - Accessories"> find "Interior Appearance" on the left. Wala.....Illuminated Front Door Sills $399!
This is NOT listed on the C-class catalog. You have to go to the Parts department and ask them to check out the part number from their parts manual.
My installation + parts cost me $800. If you think you are getting this as a $800 option, you will feel better than it is a $800 accessory!! :p

Are you getting your car from the lot or are you custom ordering it?

i'm custom ordering it. so i guess if i really want the door sills, i'll have to have them order them with the car. also, does anyone know about the wood trim. the person i'm dealing with can't seem to find it either listed. i know it's a new thing for the coupe, i just hope it's still available.

Since its a custom order, I think it might be possible to have MB to install the door sills at the factory??? And save some installation fee???? I am not sure about it, but thats what I called "custom order", you are supposed to have the freedom to install whatever accessories/options available for your car. I think that might be the same case with the wood trim.

hmm, i'll have to find out i guess. the problem is getting the salesman to actually believe you when you say something is able to be put on the car when they don't see it right there in front of them.

i read your post, you said "i think". does that mean that you think they're covered under warranty or you think that you can order them with your purchase. sorry.

The former. Someone here mentioned that their cargo net was part of their purchase, and since it's crappy, and pulled out of the hook, he was able to get it replaced under warranty, since he bought it with his original purchase.
If I were you, I'd talk to the salesmanager there to get the real deal. I cannot see MB installing them at the factory; I'd put money on it.
As far as the wood, is it an option on MBUSA.com? If so, it's done at the factory, and would be ordered the same as any other option.
Don't feel guilty for going over this clown's head - if they don't know, they should expect you to talk to someone else.
