No way the dealer will do that for you. Maybe a local car electrician or a car alarm place will do it. Shouldn't take more than 2 hours or so.

I bought some replica Brabus illuminated door sill for my coupe from Ebay....You need a car electrician for this job, its more complex than you may think...I payed 80euros for installing them, thats more than $100 I think.
I will post some pics in the afternoon if you want

Stop freakin' lyin'! You just didn't try hard enough or you were too lazy to read!

LINK: SEARCH FOR KEYWORD: ILLUMINATED DOOR SILLS specifically in the W203 forum using the ADVANCED SEARCH FUNCTION

Please read through the "How to Search" sticky and learn how to use the advanced search or I will start to lock these redundant threads that you continue to make.

BTW...I'm merging your thread and many others about "illuminated door sills".

And to make matters even worse for you, there was one of those "Illuminated Door Sills" threads that was started by another newbie member just a few days ago.

vectorz, I've already warned you. Please make a better attempt at searching and not starting old threads, otherwise I will continue to merge and/or possibly lock all threads that you start.

LOL...Don't think I don't know your origins. You did the same type of ish on TGC (The Galant Center). Thing is, over there, people actually held your hand just like a child. I searched your posts on there and have been connected with TGC before (and still have a direct connection to a very well known moderator on that forum). You didn't notice that I merged 10 "Illuminated Door Sills" threads to your redundant "new" thread?

The search works. Like I said before, you've been warned that I will continue to merge and/or lock your threads everytime you post a new thread in this forum.

BTW, if you insist on referring to how we keep the forums flowing smootly in a derogatory manner, I will be forced to suspened you. Do what you wish, but just realize that this is your 2nd warning for this.

I've pm'd you as well, so if you choose to persist, you'll have to accept the consequence.

Working now.

vectorz, just tryin' to explain that it would make the entire forum flow much better if you were to learn how to search. That's the main point. I just went on TGC to see if you had the same type of tendencies on that forum and after looking over there, you sure did. I could care less about your life, really. But when it comes to making sure these forums run smoothly, you better recognize that by posting redundant threads, it DOES have an affect on the search function not working properly.

You said
I tried a search but couldn't find info for the W203. Anyone got info and or pics?
, but that obviously shows that you didn't read through the How to Search thread stickied at the top of this forum. When I did a search for "illuminated door sills", 10 different threads came up all related to illuminated door sills, where people bought there door sills, etc...

The search link I posted went bad because I merged all of those threads into 1 thread all related to this topic. You can continue to debate me all you want, but the fact of the matter is you've already shown that you're just too lazy to read. Easy enough for me because everytime I see your name as a user that started a thread, it'll be easier for me to close right away.

Well, I'm glad you cleared that up. However, if you had answered with such grace to begin with, maybe we wouldn't have started this debate.

The bottom line, is that on TWO single occasions, I did a search and turned up nothing, despite that it did for you. I would imagine it was a server glitch, especially considering very often when I do a search on mbworld.org, it either hangs up for long period of time, or comes back w/ server cannot be found.

In any case, you automatically assume I was the problem. Even if I was the problem, was it such a dastardly deed? To have asked a question that has already been asked before? What an evil dispicable act!

Look at the above 3 posts. Was it even worth your time? If I were you, I definitely wouldn't have wasted so much energy. Take a chill pill.

Oooh, and for the record. A coworker was at my desk yesterday when we originally did the search together for the illuminated door sills. So I have a witness the results didn't turn up like it did today. Regardless, you can close all the threads you want. Don't forget, Hitler is gone... but you can still be a ****

You have to use the advanced search and narrow down your search to specifically the w203 forum. If you don't know how to do that, just ask. I'll even put up print screens for you, so you can see what I'm referring to.

Look, we've had this discussion in another thread you had started before. Continue to reference me to a racist party during WWII and we'll have a continue to have problems. I'm doin' what was asked of me and that's just to keep this forum running smoothly. Last thing I need is someone who's gonna come at me like they're worthy of being spoon fed information that already exists on here. Just try searching, the right way, and you'll be fine. Like I said, if you want me to post up print screens for you to see, I can do that too.

Well, we were doing a broad search, because he (coworker) has an Eclass and I have a Cclass. So why would I want to narrow it? Furthermore, the whole point of a broad search is to get it from all forums, meaning it should've caught results from ALL sub-forums, including the W203. The only reason it wouldn't have shown up W203 results is if I narrowed to the wrong sub-forum.

Looks like I know what I'm talking about.

Point is, would you rather make things more difficult for everybody else on the forum by starting threads that are based on subjects that have already been discussed (regarding the w203) or are you willing to cooperate and participate in making the boards run smoother? Or do you care less?

The whole point of the advanced search is to find information specific to your vehicle. You're dealing with so many different chassis on this forum, that I can understand why you didn't find what you needed specific for the w203. It's not like other forums (i.e. TGC or MX6.com) that are specific to a certain model. There's so much information for every make in this forum that if you don't use the advanced search, you'll have a difficult time finding what you need for your specific make.

I'm not doubting what you do or don't know. I'm just trying to ask questions so that you won't have to continue making redundant threads in the future.

Wow, I remember this thread back from 5 months ago. Anyways, I found that mine occasionally will stop working. It'll be just one sill, and it usually doesn't happen for months. The sills I have are from Jerry at formymercedes. I found that by unplugging the little black connector and plugging it back in works nicely. If you have these sills, give it try.

WHAT??!?! They stop working? But plugging it in again (if it's lose) does that require removing it, well basically re-installing it, or is the wire reachable to easy to get to so you can unplug and plug in.

How long did you have them on before they stopped working?

That's cool. Hopefully he'll be willing to do so if it's found defective.

Well one of mine stopped working about 1 month after I installed it. To get at the little black connector (which goes to each transformer box for each sill), I just lift up the plastic door sill trim which hides all of the wiring harnesses underneath. I placed each transformer in an easily accessible location. I just unplug the little black plastic connector clip and then plug it back in. One way you can tell the sill is working again (besides it lighting up), is that you can hear a very very high pitched sound coming from the sill/transformer (almost impossible to hear unless you're a dog).

I never installed it on my C-class, but I did install them on my 2007 SLK... the dealership installed them for me, as soon as the received the custom-ordered car from Germany.

It took them an entire day to install them, but they did a good job. It's totally worth it!

Question: mine says SLK in blue light... what would yours say.. just the letter C?

If misread, that sounds snobby! lol... Just kidding, I know you weren't dissing us.

Anyway, no, I think the SLK, SL and AMG models have that privilege to read the model (“SLK”, “SL”, “AMG”), but for all other models it just says "Mercedes-Benz". Anyway, post pics if you get a chance. I'm sure the dealer ones never go bad... guess that comes from the price difference... hmm.. might be worth it.

I got mine from Harris 4 years ago and so far no problems. I had a local body shop that specilizes in MB repairs do the install. If i remember thay charges me about 100 dollars and it only took them about 1 to 1.5 hours.
I agree they are a cool mod and I will have them installed on my next ben

I get a lot of complements on them, they look cool a night.

yup,
mine are Harris Harton MotorWerks as well.

He took OEM sills, and just added the text and lighting to the original sills.
Completely replace your OEM sills, instead of being over-layed on top.

My installation story was kinda funny, and everyone at an MB meet helped me out. In the end, they worked perfectly, and to this day are awesome !
