Anyone Order 2005 230K Without Sunroof

I was looking at the MBUSA web site for the option prices. I was thinking of the following: Pewter with Ash or Charcoal interior, automatic transmission, lighting package, upgraded stereo. The sunroof package will add the same cost as the lighting and upgraded stereo combined. In all the years of driving, I have used my sunroof very seldom. Is it worth it. It seems like the lighting package will add to the looks of the front end, and being a music fan will enjoy the upgraded stereo. What do you think. Are there any cars available without the sunroof or is it special order. I plan to keep the car for at least four years so the resale value should not be a problem. Thanks

Sunroofs are very popular, so you probably won't find very many, if any cars on dealers' lots without the sunroof. You'll probably have to order it.

Even if you never open the sunroof, it's nice to let light in through the top of the car. It makes the interior brighter. It's like a skylight in your house. You don't open it, but it sure makes your house look a damn sight better.

1. Can be useful, but takes some getting used to.
2. Useless, IMO.
3. Sweet. Very sweet.

I got the sunroof package, btw.

sunroof is a matter of personal preference; mine is always open unless its raining or <freezing, lol; I think all the lights look the same, even if u dont get xenon. I seriously doubt you will find a car on any dealer's lot w/o the sunroof package. You will have to order it.

I don't blame you. One of my friend drives top down in the rain claiming it's not that bad.

For the sunroof package, my 05 doesn't have one. For the same reason above, I just don't use it ever. If you are like me, it's just waste of money. For those who needs more sunshine, it's good package. Plain and simple.

I heard all automatic come with sunroof package, so you probably have to order it. All I'm saying is don't waste a penny on what you don't want.

Unless you plan on keeping the car a good long while, the sunroof package should be on your list. These cars are difficult to sell without the sunroof, and it takes a bit of a hit in value as well.

Ah yes, that's a good point I've heard before. I would second that. Although *you* may not want a sunroof, most people do, so if there's any possibility that you'll want to sell the car later, you should seriously consider it.

In the future, the dealer will take this in trade with or without the sunroof. At that time the trade value will NOT increase by the Blue Book value for the sunroof, which is a fraction of the new cost.

Why would the dealer not take the car in trade, with or without the sunroof?

The sunroof is a nice option, but at almost $2k, it's not that nice. I could honestly live without it. My wife on the other hand, feels it's a necessity.

There's a red 2005 C230 at the Maitland dealership with a 6spd and no sunroof. $29k (this is the one I test drove).........

But he will most likely tell you that your car is worth less without it; that he will have a hard time moving it and therefore will not be able to give much on a trade.

2001 C320ss, 2005 Ford F150 Supercrew, GSXR,
Most people buy a car based on what they want since it is for personal use. If I'm buying a car for resale, then certain facts play a part in my decision. A car in a warm climate without a sunroof will be cheaper than one without. So if you don't have a need for it and the price is a bargin, go for it...
