Exclamation Headlight Problem w/ Regrets?!?!

whoever has aftermarket bulbs in their car should take them out immediately. my low beam, high beam, and fog light went completely gone over the weekend. i saw some post where some of you have it in and sure it looks cool but wait 2-3 years later and see the damage. the dealer is blaming the aftermarket bulbs for frying the wire harness and the chip in the headlight assembly. the bulbs i used in it was the Nokya's as stated in one of the postings. if my car wasnt under warranty they were going to charge me $4K in repairs. instead they going to charge me for one light bulbs? and yes i kno with a $4k charge i rather put the Bi Xenons instead. well it's back to stock nasty yellow lights.

ive heard about aftermarket bulbs causing issues like this. usually from people using to high of a wattage. was it an aftermarket HID kit, or just higher wattage bulbs, etc? like amdeutsch said, more info please.

it was Nokyas it said 55/80 on it so i guess it drained 80watts more. so i guess it was due to over wattage. kinda weird how it says 55watts/80watts. my Sidemarkers had no effect what so ever which is good. just that my entire headlights except for my day time running lights and blinkers were ok. they were blaming my bulbs for short circuiting it all. blah

high wattage bulb... now i'm kinda scared to put an aftermarket HID kit on it now... dont want the same issue to happen. the only HID kit i want to put is a 9600K brightness. just scared about this issue

HID bulbs run at 35 watts. they dont run as "hot" as high wattage bulbs. though, if i were you i would spend the extra cash and just get BIX. factory, dont have to mickey-mouse any wires, its all plug and play, and they look a hell of a lot better than HID in a halogen assembly.

well as for the high wattage bulbs i placed in there the company said it burnt the wires and some other guru stuff. i heard the HIDs in a halogen assembly gives it better distance. is this true? but as for the bulb burning at 9600K which is on the blue spectrum and illegal, does that company offer it at a good price? sounds something i could look forward too in HIDs now.

not sure about that better distancem could be true, i just think its better to go with the actual xenons made for the car. the others you may have to cut or splice wires and i wouldnt feel safe doing that.

well do you guys think there will be problems or has anyone had problems for the 5 W wedges for the parking lights and the side markers???

I have BIX's and those are the only ones I plan to change, the side markers and the parking lights

i have those installed ... i believe those are the 194's if i'm not mistakened... does no harm. its a consistent wattage with other 194bulbs. benz cars will not accept LEDbulbs at all so just watch out for that.

yes they will accept LED bulbs. you need resistors in the line in order to trick the car. LED's will work though.
