Kleemannized

After the pulley installation by AI Design these are my thoughts.

1) Pure utter visceral acceleration in any gear 1 thru 5.

2) Sufficient Torque to make your head spin out of place. If you ride with an SO often she will notice.

3) Be careful with it you will hit 110 faster than you ever thought you could and a lot faster than you have until now.

4) Be Careful with it.

5) Raced a stock coupe tonight he took lead overtook him by 10 car lengths from 75 mph on. It was almost as if he was standing still.

6) The car feels completely different. Under normal acceleration or idle it feels more serene. Under hard acceleration Dr Jeckel wants to come out and play to easily. It feels like a different car smoother all over.

7) The gang at AI Design are a thouroughly professional bunch. You could eat of their shop floor. They have so many cool cars floating around I'm considering becoming an AI Design Groupie. They do immaculate work. The perfection and attention to detail leave me, a certified **** retentive, flabergasted.

8) Gil is cool but he's got this formula 1 fixation ............

9) Unequivocally I recommend AI Design for all of your tuning work here in the Northeast.

10) I'll say it again. Get used to it first. It moves a lot faster.

11) Butt Dyno 2000 rates Kleemannization as a 9.98 in a scale of 10.

Imaging the extra power if you got an alloy pulley. Are you going to chip the beast? Larger intercooler? Exhaust?

In order as I hope to achieve them:

1) Upsoluting
2) Alpine Audio / Nav system
3) Intercooler
4) Lorinser DTM kit / Wheels / Exhaust
5) Lighten drivetrain (carbon fibre driveshaft, aluminum flywheel)
6) AI Design built in radar detector installation
7) Renntech 2.5 litre conversion
8) .......................

G-Pro is a little box that looks like a radar detector that tells you you're 1/4 mile times, 0-60, 60-0, lateral G's and other performance numbers by calculating the g forces based on the weight of your car (which you must accurately enter in). Some say it's very accurate (the vendor) and some say it's a toy. It lists for $139 and you can get a used one on e-bay for about $80. The reason that there's a bunch of used one on e-bay is people must get bored quickly. If you want the ultimate in accuracy, go to a 1/8th or 1/4 mile track and they'll time you. Around here you can go to Irwindale 1/8th mile track on any Sunday for $15 for unlimited runs. If you get caught speeding in Irwindale you'll not only get a traffic ticket but you'll also get a free pass to the track.

Racing is too arbitrary, a lot depends on skill. You need some skilled drag racers to take the car to a track and take measurements.

Hey Wyatt, I thought Kleemann said it was 599 for the ring type pulley and 899 for the alloy? Am I to believe that they charged you 300 for the install? Good (and very tantalizing) to hear how much you like it though, I am kinda on the fence whether or not to do it (some fear of warranty/trade-in implications) so its still a question. Once ~50K hits (in about 3yrs.), I'll probably be looking to get out and into a G35c, so its probably a losing proposition as most mods are IMO. If I were planning on keeping the car long-term it would be different story, but I don't know man, any thoughts/advice? Do you think a dealer will notice this if I go to trade it in?

Turbo and Superchargers generate a lot of heat compressing air. The heat affects performance because hot air is less dense, less dense means less oxygen and you don't get the maximum potential. Many turbo/supercharged cars do not have an intercooler. The Coupe does have one but it's been sized for the standard boost. Once you add a pulley and increase boost the air gets much hotter and the factory intercooler can only do so much. So to unlock the 15-20hp lost by heat caused by the pulley upgrade, a larger intercooler can be used or a water cooled intercooler. Basically an intercooler looks like a radiator. There are air to air intercoolers (most common) and water to air intercoolers used more in racing and high end applications. It's not rocket science. The air comes in through the air filter into the supercharger, it gets compressed and sent to the intercooler and then into the motor. The cooler the air the more HP you get.

If you like the boost you get from a pulley then you'll get excited all over again when you add a better intercooler.

Vaeth makes an intercooler, but it is so expensive that a custom fabrication would probably be cheaper.

Spearco in Van Nuys, CA makes intercoolers in what ever size you want and will weld on custom ends for you. ReigerSLK got one for his SLK230. He has the Dynospot supercharger pulley. I don't believe he has the intercooler installed yet. He paid $380 for his. It just takes some R&D for someone to make one up. Unlike pullies, you can't make it too big as long as it fits and looks OK.

Greddy and HKS make many different sizes of intercoolers and their quality are top notch.
Its not hard to find one and retrofit it into the coupe

Conversion Techniques in Oakland is the authorized dealer for Kleemann

The thing is they charge $500+ for the installation of the W203 C230K pulley kit which i think its a crime the way they charge it.

call shawn at kleemann for a local installer. i thought the closest one was AIDesign in NewYork (as listed on their website), but there is one much closer to me - Union7 in West Chester. shawn said they have not yet updated their site w/ all the info. as evidenced by their still purple colored parts... :p
