I installed the Bi xenon's today.... look cool.

Iwasn't sure where the purple cable should have plugged in, so I left it dangling.
Where should it go?. I only had Halgoens before.
Also, I got the hign beams and the background lights to wokr, but not the low beam, even with the igniton off.
Is this to do with that purple cable?.
I'm getting the computer settings changed tomorow. Thought I'd better ask in case I need that purple cable attched .
Thanks

This is the euro-spec vacuum line for the manual leight height adjusting wheel next to your lightswitch...it is not possible to connect that to the Xenon headlights since these have an auto levelling motor.

The lights I offer(ed) are all complete, new and OEM plug&play units with possible minor flaws. Some of the first send headlights arrived with a loose (or even broken - twice) balljoint inside the headlight due to the parcel being dropped by postal service people/machines. The xenon projector is too heavy for the reflector to stand the dropping of the parcel.
I think this problem is solved by using a plastic pipe and some tie-wraps to secure the reflector and projector during transit.

Hissing sound from adjusting wheel

Moser, is your car euro spec?? .. if you do then you'll lose the ability to adjust the headlight from inside the car.

My question is...can you hear hissing sound from the adjustment wheels??, cos since I installed the bi-xenon I can hear hissing noise from my car everytime the car stops or idle. If the adjustment wheel is on "3" the hissing sound is quite loud when the car is idle, but the noise will go away everytime I step on the accelerator. I moved the adjustment wheel to "0" and that seems to almost eliminate the hissing sound.

The hissing is caused by a vacuum leak.

Will sealing the end of the cable with some sort of sealant fix the hissing noise?

Try to find the other end of the hose. Remove the hose and put a cap over the fitting it to which it was attached. If you can't find that point or it is hard to reach, then seal the end of the hose. You should have no problem finding a variety of vacuum line caps at any parts store. They should also have plugs, which would be better than a sealant to plug the hose.

Saw Bi-Xenon Coupe today!

We got our first Bi-Xenon coupe today at the dealer. It is a red car which someone ordered, and it looks pretty good. I think it would look a lot better on a dark colored car, but it still looks good.

Also, the fog lights now have clear lenses too with a different type of bulb or reflector inside. Too bad it's still yellow light. They don't match the xenon well.

The fog light lense looks to be the same dimension, although it's hard to be sure. But it also has a different type of bulb, so I guess you would have to replace that too. The bulb has a reflector on the end of it, it looks like. I don't know if you can get an aftermarket that looks that way, but I guess you can get factory if you don't mind the yellow color. I'll see what I can do about part numbers. The parts guys get sick of me always asking them about parts that I usually don't buy.

I don't have a camera, but if I can get one at work, I'll try to take some pics.

would it be illegal if i just replaced the lense and not the bulb? would it be too shiny or bright?

you would think it would be brighter cuz no dull lense and looks would be obviously be better, plus match bi-xenons for those who have it. bi's r still on my wish list.

I saw the xenons on a coupe when I went back to the dealer to talk about my car about a week after halloween. It looks sweet, I really wish I could get them! It was next to a bunch of other MBs w/ xenons and just seeing all the different xenon lights lined up was pretty cool actually. I do agree that there's still too much yellow light seen even w/ xenons on all MBs tho.

I honestly don't know how it would look. I think the lense has something to do with directing the light in the right direction. So it might light up all over the place, instead of lighting up straight ahead down the road. This might get you into some trouble with the cops, I don't know. Depends on how much else they have going on, I guess.

You are correct. Without the fluted lenses, the headlights would be like a pair of flood lights with light going everywhere.

Lynn, we were talking about the new clear lense fog lights. I assume it would be the same way with these. Is that right?

That is right. You can either control the light pattern with a fluted lense or with the reflector like the projector lights. You have probably seen driving and fog lights with clear lenses in the past. These were for racing and rally and off road applications where the flood type of beam won't blind on-coming traffic.

Reflector-based headlamps are not the same are projector-based ones. Reflectors can have either the patterened lenses or the clear lenses, whereas the projectors always have clear lenses.

Now regarding fluted lenses with reflector-based lights, this is not true. It is entirely possible to have this nowadays, due to computer generated free form reflectors which can pin-point the light rather accurately without having the patterned lenses. Look at just about any vehicle nowadays, be it an Accord, Echo, Toyota Tundra, and you'll see what I mean.

Heck, the high beams on the Bi-Xenons are just that! Notice the clear lenses despite no projector.

Here's my truck with Hella FF100 and FF200 foglamps. Clear lens with complex freeform reflectors

These new fogs definitely had some kind of reflector inside. It looked kinda like a little silver umbrella on the end of the bulb. I'll take another look this afternoon and see if I see anything else.

That's a reflector shield, so that the light is reflected back to the main reflector and the front of the bulb isn't exposed; this is partly to maintain a certain beam pattern

I can confirm that the '03 sedans and wagons do not have this.

The coupes don't have it either unless they have Bi-Xenon. I think a sedan or wagon with Bi-Xenon would have these type of fogs too though. The car is gone now though, so no pics.
