I have two roof racks (dont ask) for the C Coupe that I'd part with for the right offer.... one was only mounted once and used for a short trip...the other has never been used.
PM if you're thinking about one...

yup, its a townhome or condo... whatever you want to call it.... either one car parked infront of the other or.... turn the forward most spot into a bedroom... my parents own it and opted for the 2 spots... garaged parking in that area (kansas city, mo - on the plaza) is hard to come by.. my sister and i lived there during med school so we needed to parking spots....
but anyways.. the answer to your question is yes

Coupe Question
Any of you guys have a roof rack for your coupes? If so what kind and where did you get it? I need one for kayaks but with the pano roof did not know if it was even an option from Thule or Yakima. On their sites it just ask coupe or sedan, nothing about the sunroof. Pictures would be great. TIA

I'm not all too familiar with the Pano roofs or how high they stick up over the roof when opened- but I've had Yak's on a few different vehicles and have never had issues with clearance height on a sunroof (no matter where you placed it on the roof). I don't know if that helps at all.

don't buy anything but the one from the dealership---you will NEVER find a better fitting kit--- the thule or yakima toppers (or any) will fit with no problem (thule hex sliding nuts work with custom shortened screws for any application)
The sunroof will not open with some of the other kits at all, you need 2-3 inches over it other wise you will hit it---spend the money up front, it will pay off in the long run

C230 Coupe
Great. Thanks guys that was exactly what I was looking for. HeirKranz do you leave that on all the time or do you take it off when you are not using it? How hard is it to take on and off? Does it look ok with nothing on it? I will more than likely just leave mine on all the time unless it is a quick and easy install.

easy as 4 key locks and 4 allen bolts(which comes with the screwdriver type tool if bought new)-- I leave mine on pretty much all the time and swap out the bike racks as well as the topper but it is a 5min job by yourself to take off and put back on -- you will have 1-2 mpg less with the contraption on of course and of course a little more noise

DIY Attach anything to the ORIS Roof Rack
I figured I would share with you all how easy and inexpensive it is to add non ORIS attachments to them such as Thule and Yakima, which can be found all day long on the usual sites, to the ORIS roof racks that fit all mercedes so well.
I have attached Canoe racks, Bike Racks, Carriers, and Paddle holders with ease and very cheaply with "MINIMAL" modification---(and yes a 16 foot canoe will fit on a sportcoupe!)
Kit(s) you will need to buy:
1. One (1) TK1 - Parts bag from the Tracker Kit
$13.00 each http://www.thuleracks.com/product_sp..._id=82&sku=TK1
2. Eight (8) 924-0617-15 Bolts $.50 each http://www.thuleracks.com/images/lineart/TK1_422W.jpg
3. One ORIS rack for your vehicle $Price Varies http://www.oris-gmbh.de/pics/bild_grundtraeger.gif
4. Thule or Yakima Attachments $Price Varies
Pictures will follow shortly
The example will be the most poular i'm sure a Thule BIKE RACK
1. Take your Attachment and allign holes already drilled in the attachment with the front of the first roof rack
2. Mark the center of the attachment where it meets the rear rack (center of the channel below)
3. Drill a 6mm hole in the attachment if no hole is present (which usually is not)
4. Put the flat nut labeled (A) in the diagram in the oris track
5. Screw in the allen bolt (F) till it tightens the flat nut
6. The bolt (F) will be too long--you have 2 options
a. Put spacers (E&D)on the top side to fill out the bolt
b. Better way is to cut off/dremmel off the bolt length excess to fit correctly
7. tighten the allen bolts and the nuts will clamp down on the underside of the track inside and will not slip
For about $22 worth of Thule spare parts shipped, you can add any attachment to your roof Rack.........
I have done this to my Upright Uptight Thule bikeracks and a couple other attachments so I don't have to go to the stealership for theirs

Here is the canoe rack I made to fit as well.
I made the rack attachments from flat metal from an old desk, bent it into an L shape, drilled holes in the correct spots, put the bolts in that are mentioned from the previous post, put rubber grips w/adhesive from Lowes (supposed to be applied to the bottom of vcrs and such) and of course I have to strap it down, but there is no front/back, or side to side movement whatsoever.
The rear pair has only has one bolt in the picture but now has 2 bolts in each on all four corners. (was testing it to see what was more stable)
It is solid!

HA HA! I knew that would get some laughs! but since Oris only maked the hitch for the estate(wagon) and the saloon(4dr) then I have to put it somwhere! So on their roof rack it goes
Hopfully this post will help others that lack an suv and that it also becomes a sticky to be added to the DIY section--- I found one other Mercedes forum veteran from the other site (had an older w124 that had an oris rack) but it never showed exactly how his attachment was added, only that he used wind surfing Chinook bolts. This post will eliminate buying various hardware to "see if it fits" I have already searched for a long time and had all the trial and errors before arriving at this setup.
Nick, if you find a Oris coupe roof rack for $100 then i'd buy it on the spot--far more advanced then the thule and yakima racks (i don't trust their fitment)

Here is the Thule Evolution attachment to the top of the car--- The Evolution luggage box already had a fit kit for any roof rack so I didn't need to modify it, but I coluld have attached it in the same manner if needed with those lock nuts as in the first Diagram
(note: this pic was taken last year while on vacation in the Tetons so it is my car but different rims)
