On my old MY03 C320 with regular halogen lights I had the dealer turn on the foglight cornering feature through DAS. That was using the regular frosted fog lights and not the newer redesigned clear ones.

isn't it a standard feature on 05-07 cars?

It wasn't standard on mine, so I don't know if you have to have a certain package since I don't have the lighting package (bixenon). When I asked the dealship, they said it was not possible, but I'm sure a lot of that has to do with experience. I saw another member that had active fogs set by Steve or Sunil and I don't think he had the lighting package either and it was an '05.

I upgraded my front SAM and had Sunil add that feature. It worked with the turn signals and when I turned the wheel past a certain degree.

I'm still trying to figure out what this feature would be useful for.

this thread makes so much more sense to me now that Steve (MBenzNL) installed an updated SAM in my Coupé and activated the passive fog lighting feature via DAS.

are these passive fog lights any better than the standard ones in terms of light output?

MJ, aren't the 2005+ foglights designed slightly different where the angle of the beam actually aims further to the left than the 2001-2004.5 fogs? I'm not 100% positive on that, but that's what I remember people discussing.

by passive, it means that it uses whatever fog lights you already have installed on your car. As AMDEUTSCH stated you can even have this feature activated with the old frosted fog lights.

If it was a true "active" cornering fog light like in some of the high-end new cars, then you would need that new fog light ensemble with the gucci active cornering fog lamp. And as previously mentioned, not doable on the W203.

In my C320 Coupé's case, I have 2005 AMG SL55/E55 clear fog-lights, and I believe that even the 2005 W203 clear fog lights, allow a bit more of lateral light to shine than the older 2001-2004.5 fog lights.

Also, you do not need to have the fog-lights turned "ON" for the feature to function. If you're lights are on, fog-lights off, then when you signal or turn the wheel past a certain degree, the respective side fog light will turn on.

i don't think so...
05 SS fogs = C32 fogs
but then again, MB has about half dozen different part numbers and maybe there is one that aims further out...
with mine, it doesn't help at all at night... it just looks 'cool' from outside...

the one that really worked was those 1st generation maximas...

With Bi-Xenon's this mod is pretty much useless. It adds no more light to the road in the direction you are turning. Maybe a different story if you have regular halogens
