Emergency call from a newbie, all hands on deck please 🚨
I know its not the right place to start this thread but please help me. I have been experiencing serious issues with my 2001 w203 c200kompressor.
It all started with one day, it misfired on cylinder 1. Went to te garage and immediately changed the spark plugs and coils. The problem went away for a week, it drove perfect. Then all of a sudden it came back. I suspected it was the spark plug, so changed the 1st one with the 3rd one to see if it would go away. But it stayed. Same cylinder #1.
the car sometimes starts rough but becomes normal when I rev it. But the problem starts on the 3rd gear, when I want to accelerate, it rattles, hesitates and starts shaking when stopped like it works on 3cyl.

Looks like you have electrical gremlins there. The cylinder misfire might be an effect of the air control actuator malfunctioning. The air-fuel ratio might be upset and not receiving enough air thus causing the misfire. Anyhow, I am no expert in electrical but might want to start your google search with the actuator controller?

I am not sure how you define "thorough search". I spent 1minute and searched "w203 air manifold controller" and plenty of good results came up. One of the things that popped up below. Not sure if that is what you need or if that will be closely related to your problem.

okay so its my fault, couldnt find that part. Gonna show the picture of it to the local dealer. Thank you so much 🙏🏻
Have you had the problem evaluated at your MB dealer?
yep, I have. But the mechanic kept saying its either the coils or the spark plugs. The problem is, we had replaced them together with him. I have changed the crankshaft position sensor today and it runs smoother, no stalling so far. Fingers crossed. 🍀

Leaking intake manifold gasket? Check around in the R170 forums here and elsewhere.
They used M111 engine all the way till 2004, and lots more experience and information.
Most 4 cylinder cars here are newer M271. Only 2002 C230 used M111 in USA for W203.
